Cheap? or smart?

He created the same videos that others made (hood videos) he had Walmart and Target and other vendors fighting over his music to sell.

He used other producers besides BBTP that folks do not talk about.

As far as music, how was he cheap? If you wanna play the whole, not mixing his music, well I will say this, "in real time" very few if anybody cared about that aspect.

It's just today that you hear folks talking about how bad the records were not properly mixed. When the music came out, nobody sat around fussing about how bad the music was mixed, many didn't even know that was such of thing of mixing the music "in real time"

As I stated, the whole mixing his music has came about 'after' the success,

Kl and them were ready made producers who P didnt have to do much with...

P got exposed after they left because the production afterwards was generic and cheap..he couldn't put the pieces around the producers to bring the best out of them like cash money did with theirs after fresh left...that's why no limit was dead in the water after 2000

He was always more of a hustler/businessman than a skilled rapper

I still liked some of his stuff, particularly back in his Richmond days, but he was never a good rapper.
I always respected that he went out of his way as a business man to do different business ventures. You got to respect someone that is willing to go a different route. I mean, didn’t he make his own ramen line or something?

If we are really being honest, you can't use Wayne, who did Cash Money producer produce after Fresh left? during that 2004-2010 time frame?

If we are really being honest, Wayne's Squad tapes are what saved Cash Money, not any producers.

You heard it first here, Wayne's Squad tapes are what saved Cash Money, Wayne doesn't go on a 10 - 0 run with those tapes doesn't run the streets, CMR is in the same boat as No Limit.

After that 10 - 0 run, the Carter 1 was created, in fact, Baby made Wayne do the Carter 1 over because the first one was not up to par

He just came at a time when hip hop wasn’t developed like that and he was one of the first to do it in his style.
How was hip hop not developed by 1995/1996 when P broke through on a national level?
Hip hop, overall, but particularly Southern hip hop, was at is pinnacle at that point. Everything has regressed. The rhymes obviously but the production became much worse, in the mainstream, culminating in the WOAT style, trap.

I stopped reading right there.

Hip-hop wasn't developed yet?? Lol. In reality, he blew up in the middle of arguably the best era of rap music.

And no, he was not the first poppin rapper on new Orleans. Mystikal blew up before him, while signed to Jive. You weren't around.

Master p however is indeed the one who blew new Orleans up in general, along with the southern rap market as a whole. He changed the landscape of the music business around twice over - ushering in the south and hanging the business side of things in favor of the artists.

There's no way your whole setup on here can be pro-black while making an anti-master p thread. You're either pretending to be black or just young, thinking you can piece history together on a whim and be qualified to speak on it.

it wasn't the best music, but it was good enough to create a buzz in NOLA, which is all that mattered.

No Limit & Cash Money capitalized on flooding the market in ways that only worked during that era. 1998 was the bubble for both labels. BBTP's departure coincided with Napster's arrival, which effectively killed No Limit. It also kinda stagnated Cash Money a bit, but they were lucky to take advantage of a nice deal with Universal (which Priority wasn't to that level) and had some success before Wayne blew up.

His music was trash. Like his flow was garbage. His beats were wack.

He just came at a time when hip hop wasn’t developed like that and he was one of the first to do it in his style. Since he was basically the first popping rapper out of New Orleans, every other rapper and collective to come out of their pays homage. Not saying he doesn’t deserve his legendary legendary, but his music wasn’t good at all and that is something we could all agree on.

His music hasn’t aged well at all some of that shyt is literally unlistenable. He was more of a businessman than a rapper. Rapping was a hustle he managed to make incredibly popular for him.
How was hip hop not developed when all the goats were out at that time

Deezle/tmix(established tho)was around them but they did venture into outside production alot more..

P was still stuck in regional sounding music that lost its luster awhile back..

I thought p had something with them baton rogue cats tho but it never materialized..

It's crazy how all the artists on No Limit and Cash Money all knew each other before rap got involved. Probably why when they were beefing, there wasn't too much altercations between them.
