Sista the point im making is you cant throw the term "Hotep nikka" and "Ankh N!gga"
at brothers ...I personally get offended by it ask me why?...and im not obessed with Kemet or any part of Africa im just saying its causing a greater divide in our community by doing so...
feel me?
I didn't call you or anyone else a "Hotep/Ankh nikka". I said Hoteps are all over fb, I dont really see them on any other social media.

How do I know? because I'm friends and in groups with a bunch of them. I just used the word Hotep because everyone knows what I'm talking about when I say it.

Also, I'm not deterring people from learning about Kemet. I even posted a video that showed many West African tribes claim they have origins in Egypt and Nubia, including the Dogon and Yoruba.

Again and again, people here prove that they have no faith in me.

Each of them could be an African Studies PhD with the amount of time they spend on the subject, but instead hey stay at home smoking weed, "opening their third eye" or yelling at people on the street.
Again...how are you assuming this is all their doing and why are you trying to shame them for trying to learn African history? That's hella judgemental.

And like I said before, as long as they start somewhere the journey to knowledge with always bear fruit. What makes you an authority on this and really...who are YOU to judge them?

Then again, you're a college kid trying to coerce a 31 year old man who's been there, done that, and more into your way of thinking which is 100% futile.

I'm disappointed in a few members that use the term "Hoteps" and are trying to argue against people learning about Kemet....smh
If a thread like this can't bring black people together who want the best for our families and our communities then I'm afraid that no conversation will ever get us on the same accord...this thread is very disappointing however I do recognizenjoy those of you that have an open mind you represent that we may have a chance after all...
Yeah, I repped mad people in this thread.

I'd rather deal with "hoteps" than c00ns trying to call me an "african booty scratcher" to appease a culture and a society that's always hated them. Atleast I know I can share my knowledge and experiences as a African with them and teach the former...there's no hope for the latter.

How are you assuming this is all they are doing and why?
That's a fair question :manny: I guess because every video I see of these guys, they tend to be arguing in the street or reciting bible verses. But if I am wrong and they are running some programs post a link, I will retract my statement and make a small donation.

from my own point of view..... unless you know the history of Africa the white man would have you believe that we were living like apes until they civilised us.....

they actively suppress the teaching and achievements of Africa to this day, they will tell you about the ancient Romans , the Greeks, the Aztecs, Mayans, the Chinese dynasties but they keep quiet about the Nubians, the Zulus, Dogons the Benin kingdom to name a few...

I think the reason why a lot of people focus on Egypt (Kemet) is because rather than just suppress the achievements of ancient Africans as per usual they took it a step further and tried to claim it as their own...
Word.

Do you have a link, I'd like to see it.

On another note: black american obsession with ancient Egypt as opposed to West Africa (where much of their ancestry actually hails from) is due to only one of these two being a civilization universally accepted as such... a civilization... moreover one whose influence and legacy are undeniable and actually celebrated. If there were pyramids in Benin then they'd rep that too.

I really don't know much about ancient Egypt and its people, whether they were mainly subsaharan, asiatic or caucasian. But unless they had some relation to Guinea and Guineans, I ultimately don't care. But like someone else said these guys are mainly inoffensive, so it's all good.

This is why we need to teach African history

Exactly!

Now I don't say it on here that much (for various reasons), but my grandparents on my dad's side were actually Nigerian royalty. I thank them for teaching me about our culture. But if it were up to letting Americans (whites mainly) teach it, like @Nemesis said you would think that Africans were inferior and unevolved until Europeans stepped in and taught them right from wrong.

African history is not taught in regular school curriculums, only is the story of how Africans came to America as slaves for whites. If you want to learn African history in a educational setting here, you have to pay out the ass for college courses about them taught by whites. So ofcourse there is going to be alot lost in translation cause it's presented from a Eurocentric perspective. Basically I had to learn alot about African and African American history on my own cause I couldn't rely on them to do it.

And that's another thing people do not understand. How white privilege effects learning about OUR culture. When European history is a prerequisite/standard and everything else is an elective.
