Give me Dirty Dirk over all these peons. His 1 ring is the most impressive of any I've seen from any PF

Revisionist history is wild.

Nobody ever ranked Dirk ahead of KG when both were in their primes. Dirk was not a good defender. KG is arguably the best defender ever.

KG is the best PF of all-time. Malone is #2. Barkley is #3. Dirk is at best #4.

his early yrs were at PF = his best yrs

his #s fell when he played more C...attribute that to whatever you desire but I'm stating facts
Let’s have a look at his career as a PF up until first round of the 2006 playoffs against the Kings when Pop moved him over to C to replace Nazr Mohammed/Nesterovic and Horry moved to the starting lineup.

9 years at PF (98-06), he accomplished the below

Regular Season Averages
22 PTS
12 REBS
2.5 BLKS

Postseason
3x Champion as #1 Option
3x FMVP (Arguable that Ginobili deserved 05, but even with 2 FMVPs, he’s got more than next three PFs behind him)
6 50-Win teams
3 60-Win teams
3 Finals Appearances
4 Conference Finals
0 Missed Playoffs

Awards
2x MVP (9x Top 10 in MVP Votes)
ROY
ASMVP
8x All-Star (Would’ve been 9 if not for the 99 season)
8x 1st NBA All-Team
1x 2nd NBA All-Team
6x 1st NBA All-Defense
3x 2nd NBA All-Defense

If Tim Duncan’s career ended with injury the 1st game of 2007 and never played another game, this 9-year stretch at PF would still be the greatest of all time. Most great centers pre-80s never played more than 13 seasons (except Cap) and we’re still mentioning them the greatest at that position.

Tim can’t control the position Pop put him at and once the admiral retired, Nazr could only be effective at that position for so long before Duncan made more sense at the 5.

It’s not a fact he played 2/3 of his career at Center. He played C for 11 full seasons out of his 20 year career. Name another PF that has had a better 9-year run.

Until then, accept that Tim Duncan is the greatest PF of all time.

You're telling me 7'0 Nesterovic and Nazr Mohammed split minutes at PF those 04-06 seasons? :ohhh:

Talking about casuals, but running with a hot take of someone who didn't watch the Spurs before 2007. :unimpressed:

Why was Duncan defending Ben Wallace so much in the finals? Why was he defending Erick Dampier? Bc he was a C, that's why. I posted receipts in the very first post. Carry on tho beloved.

05 Finals - Tim started and spent most of his time at PF and then moved to C when Nazr subbed out and Horry came in. Championship rotation.
06 SWCF - Tim had moved full time to starting C the series before, so that's why he was defending Dampier. mentioned above.

The OP receipts are after the 06 regular season and now you're adding moments when Tim moved to C when the starting C subbed out lol.

You said Garnett was a pure PF even though he did the same in the 2010 Finals when Perkins subbed out for Rasheed Wallace or Baby Davis. As a Lakers fan, I'm surprised you don't remember that. Even outside of the playoffs, Garnett started at Center for the Celtics once Perkins was traded and his first year with the Nets.

Even Dirk played a few seasons at C when they didn't have a solid C option. Tim, KG, and Dirk all had situations where they had to play significant minutes at C, but their natural position was PF. The difference with Tim is that Pop he found more value with Tim playing Center next to guys like Oberto, Blair, and Diaw in the latter half of his career. This was a personnel decision but doesn't take away his first 9 years where he spent 90% of his time at PF. If "KG was a pure PF" when he played 3 seasons at C and C minutes in the Finals, then Tim was a pure PF from 98-06.

Stop juelzing. You're right to saying Tim played major minutes at C for his career, but its ok to accept that his years at PF was greater than the rest.
