primo only did three tracks on illmatic. if we are gonna talk about his best work, then it's gonna be a toss up between sun rises in the east, living proof, and hard to earn. I got no problem with anyone who chooses any of those three records.

I hate to dip into your guys discussion midstream but..

.."Wrath of the math" is a better album then "sun rises in the east". Especially when it comes to Primo beats. Just my thoughts, just my thoughts..

same way that the intro to this album is a slowed down looped version of the beatles "yesterday".
:what: it samples the song you just quoted

it's not a straight-up cover since Wes is using his guitar to interpolate Paul's vocals. the instrumental melody Primo samples doesn't really exist in The Beatles' song

These beats should have went to a lot people, but they did not. It is what its. It was still a great album regardless. The real question is, why the fukk has not any rapper jacked some of the beats for a mix tape?

Seriously, Why has not a rapper to this day not snatched at least one of the beats?

There have been plenty of people I've heard spit over those beats. The most memorable one for me was always this freestyle from DJ Unknown and DJ Mekalek off the "Aint' No Love" mixxtape/album. They used a bunch of classic beats for that tape, that whole album was dope.

Main Flow from Mood, Louieville Sluggah from Originoo Gunn Clappaz, and Wordsworth rippin' the Intro:

Word A' Mouth also was on that same tape and ripped the "Up Against The Wall" beat before it switched to a Smif N Wessun beat:

Ras Kass had a freestyle on his Eat or Die mixxtape rhyming over "Tha Realness"

La The Darkman over "Suspended In Time"

I remember on the original Tony Touch 50 Mcs mixxtape (GOAT "freestyle" mixxtape ever btw), Flipmode Squad rhymed over "Tha Realness", KRS-One rhymed over "Suspended In Time", and I'm pretty sure somebody else rocked over "Livin' Proof" but I can't remember who at the moment. That whole album/tape is also on youtube if you wanna check it out.

They both classics to me.
