Can we talk about my guy Mike "The Maestro" D'antoni looking like the UNANIMOUS coach of the year?

I think I understand why @CantStop has this memory of Kobe being run into the ground.

Near the end of D'Antoni's first season with the Lakers, Kobe averaged 45.5 minutes per game from March 30th, 2013 to April 12th (7 games, the Lakers won 6 of them).

Why was Kobe playing so much? Well at the time the Lakers were just 37-36 and needed to make a playoff push. They finished 45-37 and were rewarded with the 7th seed in the western conference. But they lost Kobe due to that famous injury against the Warriors on 4/12.

Then Dwight and the boys got swept out by the Spurs.

:umadduncan:

I remember now. :ahh:

You must be a young bul

Before steve Nash joined dantoni he had been in the league for 9 years and he made the all star game twice

Nash and Erick Dampier were free agents at the same time. Dallas thought Dampier was more valuable.

Nash was best friends with dirk and Cuban and they still chose Dampier over Nash

That should give you some perspective on how Nash was viewed before dantoni turned him into a hall of fame

Dantoni turned a white guard into a 2 time MVP

Dantoni turned an Asian guard into a household name and had people saying he was a better prospect than kyrie and John wall

Dantoni had Raymond Felton looking like an all star

D'Antoni offense is legit, people don't realize in most of the years when he coached he had average teams overperforming in the regular season, of course they were going to lose in the playoffs. This man inflated nash stats so much he won two mvp's and none of the nba legends acknowledge steve nash :dead: but hollinger stats fanboys are going to tell you how nash himself revolutionized the nba's offense and other shyt :russ:

Goatavich the coach of the year and it aint even close...

Washed up old point guard who can't even play 3 games in a row without getting hurt...starter

Two guard who can't dribble or pass and never shoots freethrows...starter

Rookie Latvian power forward who looks like a matt bonner clone...2nd big off the bench

Third year big man who couldn't even get minutes in Orlando averaging 3 points for his career...1st big off the bench...

Third year small forward who can't run, jump, shoot...backup small forward

Second year shooting guard who is only in the league cause he paid to try out for the d league...backup shooting guard / small forward...

Rookie Argentinian point guard who you couldn't pronounce his last name if I put a gun to your head...played in 14 games...started 4 of them...

39 year old player making 14 million to go 0 - 9 against the bulls... backup shooting guard...

Took all that...mixed them with one great player in Kawhi...and the spurs have the second best record in the league...

How many if your favorite teams are winning games playing a guy who looks like this?

Notice how I didn't mention Lamarcus...that's because if you have seen him play this year you wouldn't want to mention him either...

Popovich should be winning them every year but nba loves storylines. They gave the award to kerr just because of 73 wins last season where in like half of the season he wasnt even coaching :dead: that award makes no sense

the great thing about Popovich is that throughout the years he adapted to the new league. Sort of like when Riley had offensive team in LA and he made a switch to defense in NY. Same way Gregg went from defense to the offense. Only few coaches in the history are able to do this.

Meanwhile ole boy Phil still trying to implement old Tex Winter schemes :mjlol:

47.5 percent of the guys on the coli never picked up a basketball

47.5 percent of the guys on the coli dont understand it

Then we have the 5 percenters....the guys like me and you :wow:

These guys are so dense that they truly believe that the folloqing events were just coincidences:

Steve nash going from not being a top 25 player, to winning 2 straight mvps at the age of 30 after joining dantoni

Raymond felton going from a dessert chaser to an all star caliber player

Jeremy lin going from a teaching assistant to a household name

James harden leading the league in assists

Is all a coincidence

Breh i am the O.G Kobe stan, and kobe gave 110 percent for dantoni.....but kobe is stubborn and wouldnt play "dantoni ball"

Dantoni has to have guys that buy in

He was winning in new york with jeremy lin, landry fields, and jarryd jeffries in the starting lineup :dead:

You have to be a fool to say this man cant coach

I remember when amare left the suns they were talmbout how without nash amare's stats might drop. So he joins the knicks where d'antoni is coaching and he has one of his best seasons playing with the chip on his shoulder, until they trade for melo. But in that stretch until the all star break amare was a top 5 player, playing with point guards like raymond and lin. Completely destroying all these claims of steve nash making amare's career.

he's been working with team usa for years yet they claim mike is one of the worst coaches :dead:

plus he'd be a champion right now if it wasn't for corrupt donaghty reffing in 07 and cheap shot rob move that resulted in key players getting suspended for games.

It feels good to see Mike back on top, pause. I've never seen such a great coach get so much hate and so little respect.

D'antoni is once AGAIN proving that when he has guys who buy into his system, there's only a handful of coaches who can f*ck with him.

*waits for guys to come in talking about D'antoni isn't sh*t cuz the rockets will never win a ring*

*waits for guys to overlook the fact that this roster sucks*

As a black man from the struggle I can relate to D'antoni.

My grandparents were broke as hell and they had 9 kids, plus a bunch of relatives who would stay with them. My granny could feed 15 people with one chicken, 2 boxes of rice, some greens, a pack of Kool aid, some faucet water, 4 spoons of sugar, and 24 ice cubes.

Watching D'Antoni makes me think of those days. :wow:

Have to admit I was wrong on this one

Took one look at that roster and thought it had 39-43 written all over it (with the league's #2 offense naturally:mjgrin:).

:smugbiden:I'm happy for all parties involved. D'Antoni I thought might have been blackballed from the league for good.

Glad to see Eric Gordon finally healthy and balling. Glad to see Capela get some run, especially since he always looked better than Dwight for that team. Ryan Andersen is a great fit for this offense. Dekker has shown flashes as well:ehh:

They're still bowing out in Round 2 but that has to be considered a successful year given the roster turnaround and coaching change.
