Can we talk about why the black family is still broken? Crack happened in the 80s and its 2018 now.

Why is it taking us so long to get our shyt together? The natural togetherness of family is the the true strength of any race. If we don't fix our family issue first. Then we'll never be able to fix the black issue. These black babies will continue to be drowned in hate and the cycle will never change.

1000% true.

The fix is within. Or not. But white boogeyman can't make or break us in this department. It's all the way up to us to do it correctly. Or not.

Because most black people are generationally poor and uneducated. What do poor people do for fun? They fukk. What happens when you fukk? You have kids. What happens when poor, uneducated people have kids? Their kids end up poor and uneducated.

It's a cycle. Will be hard to break. It'll take a conscious decision by some forward-thinking young folks to put aside their biological urges and crack some books to get into college, etc... in order to break the cycle. It's gonna have to happen on a large scale. Each one teach one sounds nice but it's gonna take a massive shift in attitude to dig us out of this hole.

Aside from the stuff that was already mentioned here, why do you think the effects of the crack era have ceased to exist? It was a massively traumatic time for the black community, the kids birthed from that era are only recently becoming adults and some are still suffering from ptsd like effects, among other un-diagnosed mental ailments, and are now passing the trauma down to their kids. People growing up without a nuclear family in place because parents were in jail or addicted, so they were left with no guidance and susceptible to make similar mistakes as their predecessors. The crack epidemic was bound to have a multi generational effect before it completely tapers, not to mention drugs are still an issue, it just shifted like @Papa Shango in the flesh said.

They been forcing black families to split up since slavery. When it was no longer legal to do so they found other ways to split up our families which has led us to this point
/thread. You're not going to socially engineer a group of people for a few hundred years then expect them to get it together overnight.

Self aggrandizing

BW always put themselves first at the expense of others. This is heavily encouraged in our community. You literally can not build anything with a person with that characteristic. They will use and abuse you every time. It's so bad at this point. It's hard to find someone NOT like that

I think the biggest despair is between poor black families vs middle class / rich black families.

I grew up middle class and never really noticed a "bad family structure" with negative results. Probably because my parents and black friends parents had the money to create stability.

I think a lack a resources and financial instability is the biggest link to broken families. A household with 2 responsible parents could help. Unfortunately, marriage doesn't seem like a priority for the younger generations of poorer people.

Black men and women don't like each other enough and for the right reasons to get ahead. We can have sex together with no issue, but that's about where it stops. We often aren't friends and don't establish trust so our interactions with each other are always at an arms length.

Malés replaced as providers and funnelled into prisons. Women who subscribe to feminist ideology.

Men don't value black women because of the shortsightedness of their grandmothers. Women don't value black men because the government has more resources.

This was done by design.

I was listening to a breakdown of the Moynihan report from 1965. The majority of reasons for the dysfunction in tge black community is explained in detail within that document.

The main issue is the declining presence of fathers in tge community. Its a must read for women and teenage men to properly prepare the next generation.
