Was Canelo in his prime vs Floyd or not?
And why are we acting like all fights are made equal? 90% of those 40+ fights were against absolute bums
It’s quality of fights not the quantity.
You Floyd fanboys really need to take off the rose colored glasses.
Crawford is just a better overall fighter than Floyd. The advantages that Floyd has (defense/god tier ring iq and adjustments/footwork) are all negated by Bud who is all time great at all of those as well…only he also has ten times the power of Floyd.
And Bud doesn’t even have a “Castillo” on his record either.
Was Floyd in his prime vs Canelo?
No he wasn't.
He was 36 years old, had hand problems and basically in his 98 Jordan 2nd 3-peat part of his career.......I've said it before & I'll say it again. The great tragedy of Floyd Mayweather's career is that he became a household name & star AFTER his prime. It would be like if Jordan's first 9 years & first 3 peat were on tape delay & the casual fan only remembered his second three peat.
People are using this Bud-Canelo fight to disparage Floyd Mayweather and I don't like it. People are essentially punishing Floyd for being a naturally smaller fighter who maxed out at 154, a weight he could barely get to. FWIW, the version of Canelo that showed up against Bud the other night would have gotten schooled by Floyd as well.
Canelo wasn't throwing his jab while Crawford worked behind his. Canelo was loading up his left hook and his right hand, yall don't think Floyd Mayweather Jr wouldn't have seen everything he was throwing from a mile away and countered him to death.
I do think Bud would be HELL against Floyd at 147 and personally I think Bud should be favored if they met at 147. I don't think Floyd's prime was ever at welterweight.
Floyd's true prime was at 130, 135 and 140.......this is the problem I have when people talk about Floyd. People treat his entire career as a 19 year prime when his prime likely ended when he retired the first time in 2007.
Remember, Floyd was way more offensive in the smaller weight classes before he had hand problems.
