I mean...."Wu-Tang Forever" was a #1 album in 1997 that sold 4 mill and the lead single is "Triumph", a 6 minute song with no hook.
You couldn't be too lyrical in the 90's. What is now considered lyrical miracle was the shyt that rose with the internet. Super underground, 18 syllables per bar type shyt with no soul or rhythm.
As far as Canibus, he was considered as dope as anyone else out at the time. Which again....it was the 90's.
The problem was, his debut album was a dud. After that he kinda faded into the underground.
