That opening verse of Desperados still wows me. He came in like fukk my record label I appear courtesy of myself.
That 3rd verse of Buckingham Palace.
His first two albums were alright with me. I think his first album in particular gets a lot of unwarranted hate. People let their imagination run wild about what it could be and nothing would ever meet those expectations.Honestly, I didn't mind his 1st or 2nd album. I had both. I changed. Realized he wasn't really sayin much as far as content and his lyrics weren't what they were made out to be. I still like some of those songs for what they were.
I remember Canibus posted it after X passed
It’s fairly obvious now but he was never gonna work as a solo artist. He was too one dimensional. He’s in there with the Jadakiss and Cassidy type rappers that can spit hot verses but their solo projects leave a lot to be desired.I was a fan and the word "overrated" is a bit much. We are talking about a young MC who held his own on tracks with some of the biggest legends of the game and in some cases outshined them. The verse from Beasts From The East is still a personal classic, as are others.
His albums and the way his career went downhill after LL and later Dizaster, will forever tarnish his legacy.
I'd say he wasn't overrated, just not marketable.
Top 5 of all time if you don’t agree lick a dried nut. His debut is a classic now. He is still dropping great music and rapping at a level that is not possible.
*StanWhat up Bis!?!?
You was one of my role models as a kid growing up, bringing that sheer aggression, battle rap energy to the mainstream was a breath of fresh air. Dropped the ball with the debut but regardless, you definitely left your mark.
You definitely Canibus talking like that bruh, stop playin with us and do a collab with Spliz or Chicago or whoever else is nice in here, look out!
