people always say Canibus fell off, but really the novelty just wore off. Yeah he was a dope rhymer, but saying a bunch of shyt nikkas don't understand doesn't make you nice.

"because you don't understand him don't mean that he nice"

nikka didn't make dope songs he just make dope verses, just another lyrical miracle nikka who rapped like he was battling all the time.

Canibus dropped a few average albums at a bad time

the first couple were good, the features were good

from like 2008-2020 his albums have been good

Fait Accompli predicted the past 2 years

Just copped his Horsemen project with Kurupt, Killah Priest, Ras Kass and him...
He's supposed to be dropping an album a month for next year.

Time Flies Life Dies Phoenix Rise was amazing to me

Full Spectrum Dominance was alright, the good part about actual artists is that if you hate an album... they have 5 more you can go back to instead. It all depends on the beats he gets really

Poet Laurete Infinity was a masterpiece

5....11 minute songs ... where each line at the same time can be interchanged with the other 4 songs
like at 5 minutes 32 seconds... that line matches and works at 5 minutes 32 seconds of the other 4 layers. That's art to me

I'm still the only person smart enough to defend his notepad bullshyt too
people cap and front like real emcees because rap is a front for people
They paid him 10k to show up and do the battle ... he lost the shyt ... so he says " I lost but let me kick the rhymes I at least wrote but forgot"
I personally think thats commendable... dont just show up and take the 10k and run. As a star he at least delivered fully and stepped down to losing gracefully. He could have easily just took the money and ran. Its not like at the time he pulled out the notebook he was going for a W ... he was just finishing giving the audience and viewers what they paid for so they didnt get a half assed show.

Nah when Canibus first came out, he was the nicest MC I ever heard in my life I thought. I thought he was like Rakim on steroids. I thought it was the highest level of MCing you could ever reach. The shyt he was saying had my 13 year old brain all fukked up lol.

Incredible lyrically but always felt he was a bit overrated as people underestimate the importance of flow, voice and general style. Canibus would wow me lyrically but it wasnโ€™t a joy listening to him for long periods

Flow, voice and style also crucial to being an elite MC. To me Canibus just came across a bit awkward on the mic when you compare to other top pedigree rappers that some put him up there with

He was highly overrated. Beasts From The East was FIRE but aside from that classic feature his albums were TRASH. He never really put out anything of substance other than a few features.

That's interesting, because to me his flow and voice is what put him over the top for me and I think a lot of other people. It's what separated him from the "lyrical miracle" rappers. Because he was super lyrical with a great flow and voice. That was almost unheard of.

The hype surrounding him when he was first heard on that Lost Boyz track was deserved. Everyone lost their fukking minds on this unknown who even managed to outshine Redman. I still remember my first time hearing that verse with my boys back in 1997 like it was yesterday. We were stunned like "wtf just happened and who was that?!"

Canibus just been unlucky throughout his career, some of it self inflicted and other times he got dealt a bad hand. He was never gonna be a mainstream rapper, but I don't think he was overrated back in the early days at all.
