50+ years of hip-hop and thousands of MCs, and a man who lost 2 high profile rap battles and only had 2 albums should be in somebody's top 10???

He’s like Wilt and Kareem, so nice they tried to pretend he never existed

Imagine sitting in a cypher of the finest piss soaked brown weed, sticks, and seeds Mexico had to offer in the 90s and hearing this shyt for the first time

Where was this at.

As canibus technical skills never amalgamated or advanced. Past outdated three syllable rhymes.

To even rate his records high.
Canibus technical rubrick was outdated and never evolved ever. Making him severely offkey. Including his issues to be malleable and adapt to any change in sonic landscape.

Not to mention. When it came time to emcee. The nikka pulled out his rhyme book. Like a studio rapper.

making him one of these advanced label plant type of cats. Who never really rhymed nowhere off the top. Just a whole bunch of pre-writtens that were memorized. Which is not emcee'n.

Yeah.

Canibus was his own worst enemy. To actually beef wit top tier emcees was already enough to send his career to netherrealm and then the notepad thing completely destroyed whatever reputation he may have had.

And he did against some goofy ass Dizaster rapper who couple years later caused a fight in the middle of a round of his battle cause he couldn't control his nerves :mjlol:

Canibus just never grew as an artist and he picked the worst people to affiliate himself with, like the rasta imposta wyclef. Painting him in silver paint WTF what kind of gay ass goofy shyt was that :scust:

I assume you mean LL and Eminem. He beat LL, LL was just too popular, and 'Bis' meh 1st album were spun into a loss.

Eminem didn't really battle him. His Canibus dis didn't leak until years later.

The first album being a hit probably changes everything. He's grown as an artist, he just didn't grow into a commercial artist.

canibus was indeed that nikka... right up until that first album dropped and and it was mostly mid. then, when he was done blaming wyclef, the second album dropped and everyone realized he couldn't make music. no ear for beats. can't really make songs when they're not focused on battle rap/lyrical miracle shyt. high concepts, poor execution...

in the end, he wasn't much different from a lot of other dudes who were insanely nice with the words but ill-suited to be successful artists.

He had the wrong people around him and was stubborn. If someone pulls him aside and takes the Devil's Pie beat, along with whatever else Premier was trying to throw him, his career is likely different. It could have saved the first album, or elevated the second album into a real comeback.

If there was no Wyclef to fukk up his album and he took the Illmatic approach, the album we could have gotten :noah:
