Capitalism really is just a ruse to make a handful of people wealthy. The average person is never going to make it.

I mean you think they want people retiring?

Government collecting 30% off people's yearly salaries.

United States is not a "cultural" country like Mexico, Switzerland, etc.

It's a glorified bordered tax zone with citizens to exploit.

Yet no explanation of anything :unimpressed::russell:

The average person in the 50s averaged a little over 40 hours a week :coffee:

That’s one. Two, when did I ever comment on someone working too much? Conflating two different people saying two different things and saying their arguments are colliding is what I call “stupid”
:unimpressed:

The sentiments are still the same amongst all of you. .

And im talking about black people you stupid CAC.. You got dumb a$$ nikkas talking to your white a$$ making them believe nikkas was living the good life in the 50s off one job. Then they bring that garbage back to the tribe and got the old heads scratching their heads..

Get yo goofy a$$ the fck on.

Bars :wow:

In my view propagandized media has broken the minds of even the most reasonable, well-meaning Americans.

People fail to realize how filtered their general information has been for generations at this point. In order for any semblance of democracy to work, there needs to be a way to objectively agree on some basic foundation of reality.

After decades of misinformation about even the simplest of things, intellectual discourse as a people has become nearly impossible. Nuance is a four letter word. It's as if the ability to philosophically reason at all has been bred out of the majority of the population.

And so now, facing some of the most dire circumstances this nation has ever faced (in my view at least), there aren't nearly enough people asking even the right questions, much less in any position to offer solutions. Most of us don't even grasp who their enemies truly are, and so we swipe desperately, blindly in the darkness hoping to somehow protect ourselves.

It's a crazy-making situation for anyone paying attention - and it only seems to get crazier. I spend an exorbitant amount of time trying to sift through the noise to find a kernel of truth and the more I learn, the less I seem to understand.

Best comment I’ve read in a long time. I suggest to you the book: amusing ourselves to death - Neil Postman. This explains exactly what’s going on (as you point out very clearly).

America is showbiz. People don’t care. They want to be amused.

Edit; to add. Abraham Lincoln debated regularly (before he was president) with counterparty for hours in public theatres. About 15 hours per argument. The people had the concentration and willingness to sit those rides out because the people were well informed. We are knowingly being deprived of information. Dis-informed. We are entertained. It’s not about the context and argument but about who’s haircut is better than the other president or who looks funny, and who has a greater comeback on a 5 minute speech. This is what decides the next president. It’s a show. The smartphone and television is showbiss. Wildfire on the news in Hawaï, follows by a minute add what healthcare to choose. As if it’s not even real. You are being misled from the fact that there’s an actual crisis going on, on so many fronts.

Anyway, read the book folks. Sorry for my bad English.

I wholeheartedly agree. And many people would agree but there are many who don’t. Imperfect examples, I have, but here goes:

How many fought tooth and nail against Obamacare? Or spit in the face of it but would be absolutely screwed without it? How many would rather see the closures of arts programs, galleries, museums, libraries in favor of football stadiums, renovated buildings named after big donors? How many NIMBYs are out there blocking legislation that could help their communities? How many cities over time could have benefited from a tremendous public transport system but chose to minimize that need while lining the pockets of the automobile industry? Now we’re crying climate change, environmental pollution, when there was evidence we were headed in that direction over 40 years ago.

Individualism and capitalism have destroyed America’s will to progress and improve for the better of society. It’s been moving towards “get mine, get yours” system for decades and this is the end result.

It's funny that subreddit is 1/2 Trump lovers too and they acting like "Yeah this is bad" when they're the biggest part of the problem :unimpressed: :comeon:

Don't let me pull out my handy dandy inflation calculator.

But for real, you can't compare the purchasing power our grandparents had back in the 50s/60s, to what we have now. It's disingenuous
Nah. Someone was saying that capitalism made it to where people have to strain to make a way for themselves and I pointed out a time where a man could provide a comfortable life for hisself and his family with an average factory job. Showing that the problem is NOT capitalism. And that’s why not even one person has named a better economic system.

And inflation happens because you have people rigging the economy to their benefit. A person growing crops and selling them is capitalism yet you have people in this thread saying that’s not the way to go. Why? Because they don’t know what capitalism actually is

Imagine calling someone a cac because they believe in owning and profiting off ones own labor? Which is the definition of capitalism? I mean you do know a person with their own land, stepping outside their house and growing crops and taking those crops to a market to sell is CAPITALISM right?
:mjlol:

Oh and you do know the people of Black Walstreet were practicing capitalists who made a way for themselves in the midst of a type of racism you’ve never seen? Who thrived (during a time they were being held back) to such an extent that it made the dominant society jealous? You do know that l black societies were capitalists while you in here confused because the cacs in power rig it in their favor even to the detriment of poorer cacs? lol

Stop acting like a litttle b*tch..

Nobody gives a sh*t about what you're talking about. You're not even out here, you in your mom's basement fussing..

Right, wrong or indifferent; people made a choice to work themselves silly to have material sh*t.. Thats on them.

And if the day comes you can work 5 minutes and be a billion aire, I'd be happy for y'all.. Until that day comes, stop crying like a b*tch about the results of your choices..
