do you need a law degree to become a detective? I thought you just needed a criminal justice degree and some cop experience.

No. From i read you either have to start off as a police officer :lupe: pass a test, and work your way up(promotion through department) OR you could if you don't want to go through the police academy and work as an officer first then you start out as a private investigator.

Out here in my damn drawls
Before this, I worked as an entry level SE for 1.5 years out of college. I was on that career path because of the eventual money, but I wasn't really excited about the work. The traveling aspect was cool, but it got old real quick

I started making plans to leave early last year before I got too deep in that career and got too many responsibilities in my personal life that would hold me to a job that I didn't want. I made around 44 K and there people making 3-4 times what I made, but their lives revolved around work. I figure that if I'm going to bust my ass, I'm going to have to have more to show for it other than a bank statement and a resume :francis:

I scraped my little money together, took some of my savings out, got everything squared away as far as my LLC and state compliance shyt for North and South Carolina, got a small loan, vehicles, a space, clients and I officially started my business in January.

I chose to do this because I want ownership and experience for future business and investing. Money isn't my motivation at this point, I'm just getting my feet wet and getting used to being out of my comfort zone

I'm 24, and other than my house, all I have to worry about dedicating my time and energy into business goals and personal growth

For most of you what is the reason you're in the job/career you are? Is it for the money? Is it your passion? What?

The reason I ask this, is I have my degree, but i've come to realize there's in nothing in my field (Communications) that really truly interests me. I know for most of us, none of us truly love our job, and we simply do it to make a living, but idk :francis: i'd just to hate to do something i hate for the rest of my life. Right now i'm doing a part time job in retail until i find something permanent, and i go there and realize there are probably people there in their 40's and 50's that are miserable, but are only there for a check. Even a man in his 50's who works in my department was talking to me about talking about how it's a good thing that i'm still young and that there's "no future" in this. SMH...Idk i just want to wake and love what i do, and the life i live. *Shrugs* but hey maybe i need to just come to terms with reality of life :yeshrug:
