Case Keenum holds a dozen NCAA records. Why is it 'surprising' that he can throw?

It stilll doesn't take away the fact that's he's just figuring out the league at age 30. You be surprised how many casual think he's some rookie or still in his rookie deal.

Yeah, you can just say you don't know much about dude.

Undrafted, signed as a third string, started for a BAD Texans team after the first string went down, signed with the Rams and beat out Foles, won like 4 games in a row, had a game where he had a perfect qb rating (I know this cause it was the last Rams game in STL), started off last year not too horribly ...

You're acting like dude was a first round pick who is just putting it together. He's literally just bounced back and forth from Texans and Rams for four years and now has had an entire season in his hand. Is he average? Yeah, maybe only slightly above it. But he's not some bum who has been given a thousand chances. He's always been a backup foremost who has just played behind injuried QBs.

It took him 6 years of college (not a typo. He was a 6 year college football player) and a 5 year professional to be an average NFL QB. It's not surprising that he can throw. Anyone given the amount of chances that he's been given will be just as good at some point.....and it would be very disappointing if a college QB played 2 extra years and didn't hold at least a handful of career records.
Misleading

He didnt play 6 full seasons. He played in 5 and in one of those 5 seasons he only played 3 games.

So he played 4 full seasons and 3 games. You make it seem as though he played 6 full seasons in college

Ehh that’s misleading and redshirts don’t work like that. He really played a little over 4 years in college. Also, his first year he split time. There are 4 year starters that have more career starts than him. Career starts isn’t on that list of records he holds.
This statement is disingenuous. He didn't play all six years. He redshirted and also missed a year with a knee injury.

I wasn't being misleading at all. You are all aware that redshirts are allowed to practice, study film, and workout, right? All 3 things that are going to make him a better player in the long run. I know exactly how redshirts (and medical redshirts, blueshirts, and greyshirts) work. Just because he's not playing on the field doesn't mean he's not benefiting. In fact, the coaching staff pushes the shirts to get better harder than the cats that play because they don't have the games on Saturday. You're not going to sit here and tell me that 18 extra months, at the minimum, of unlimited study and workout time ain't gonna help someone succeed.

He broke records in college, went undrafted, bounced around to a couple teams including bum ass Jeff Fisher and then ended up in Minny and had a great year. 98.3 passer rating, 7th in the league this year, it's just not really all that surprising. Nobody is saying he's great just that the league missed on him.

All true breh. I’m guessing we all just took what you said about him playing an extra 2 years literally.

They didn't miss on him. He's what happens eventually if you let a QB learn in the league and are patient. I'm not even making it racial. High round picks don't get that luxury of patience that Keenum got. Even when he played terribly people were cool with just giving him a clipboard and taking a roster spot. Vince Young played 2 before Fisher buried him. Blaine Gabbert got buried after 2 years in Jacksonville. Trubisky will probably get buried in Chicago in 2 years. If you replace Case with Chase Daniels (another undrafted QB that's floated into a 10 year career making 25 million dollars) and I'm pretty sure this team would have the same result. The Vikings are a really really good team. He's surrounded by a lot of offensive talent and the coaching staff knows what they're doing.
