Well that trade did accelerate his offensive timeline and a few of us said that from the beginning it wasn’t a win now team that was a Mitchell trade away from getting over the hump. Granted, it also doesn’t help that other dudes on that team like Okoro haven’t taken the leap as well.
So Mob needs a perfect situation to thrive?

Typically generational players show it whether the team is good or bad.

Cleveland born & raised
He wants to bring the ball up and shoot jumpshots, does he not? He tries to fill that "stretch 4" role, at times. I do watch the games, but every time I watch, I say why is he trying to bring the ball up? I watched maybe 10 Cavs games this year. Of course, he didn't play in all of them, so a lot of what I say is from last year. Why is he trying to handle the ball? Why is he tryna pass like Draymond? Occasionally, he'll score on from a post position, but the rest is rolling and putbacks. But he's not really a defensive guy either. He's not really a shotblocker, and he's what 6-10/6-11, but plays defense on the perimeter. Jarret Allen is probably their best defender, at least from a big man, and he's not really a shotblocker either. And they are mostly identical in frame, defensive styles, rebounding ability.

So how do you use him? What position does he play? Is he a stretch 4? Is he going to play down low? Is he a screen/roller, and if so, what do you do with Jarrett Allen? JB has been the coach Mobley's entire time there, and when y'all were calling him a bright spot rookie year, to now say he's not being used correctly, when he plays the exact same way. AND if he's a defensive hub, that's on him to make his presence felt. I'm old school. No matter how you're being used on offense, no one can affect your defensive tenacity. I think Jarrett shows more effort there.

And then there's the problem of Donovan & Garland. The roster doen't fit. You have 2 combo guards in the backcourt, and 2 lanky bigs, but at least Jarrett doesn't shoot Js. He knows where role lies.
Well there we go :russ:

You just said “But he's not really a defensive guy either. He's not really a shotblocker, and he's what 6-10/6-11, but plays defense on the perimeter.”

Please just stop.

You need a situation where you're going to get the opportunities to develop your offensive game. He wasn't getting that under JB as dudes deep on the bench were getting more opportunities than him on some nights.

We've seen many times before players actually expanding their games and getting better at it because they were getting more opportunities than before.

Look at his usage rate compared to the top guys in his class and you'll see what I mean. He doesn't have the greenlight compared to them and it's not even close.

Seems to be an assumption green light=better production?

My only issue I have is at what point do we blame Evan? He has all off season to work on his game. A player who does have his talent should be thriving & dominating to where the coach is forced to play him.

I could be wrong but looking at the non advanced numbers he isn’t performing better each year.

We approaching Bol Bol levels of “hE jUsT nEeD tHe MiNuTeS”. Lol

He’s not even close to being Bol Bol levels so it’s disingenuous to even bring that name into the conversation.

Bol Bol in the sense of he might just be a player who “is who he is”

But again you still not addressing Evan not improving from off season to off season. At least not enough

He didn’t do that great a job here in Houston with a WCF appearing roster so I’m not surprised. Great defensive mind, but he doesn’t know how to keep a locker room or make proper adjustments. Rick Carlisle’s tree hasn’t been so great.

Get him the reps to show whether he’s improved on offense or not. That’s the entire point.

His touches should be going up as the years go on not down.

Like I said, if Cleveland doesn’t want to give him the reps, then trade him to someone that will.

Players are now coming out stating that it was time for a change. JB just ran his course with the team. That how life goes at times, nothing personal :yeshrug: .

Just trash. Everything you said about Mobley and Allen is wild trash. Saying Jarrett Allen isn't a shotblocker is idiotic breh.

Marcus shyt on JB lol, and he and JB go way back.
After Koby's press conference today sounds like the players really thought JB had no idea how to coach postseason basketball and make adjustments. Also sounds like they might run back the core 4 under the new coach to see how it looks, though that could just be trying to elevate Allen/Garland's trade value.

Marcus shyt on Allen too, said that he would have played through the rib injury if it was him.

Man what? :mjlol:
He was the main reason why we never had an actual offense. He only started using Mobley as an offensive hub due to being forced too by the front office. Even Mitchell, Strus & the rest of the team was pissed because he never wanted to utilize Mobley.

Damn, did not know it was that bad. As a non-Cavs fan on the outside looking in, I was saying for like a good 2 years wondering why Mobley never got the touches for the offense and was never a feature. The offense was so basic. It was basically Garland or Mitchell coming off picks and jacking up 3's, and Mobley and Allen would just be there to catch their bricks lol
