In hindsight no one knew LeBron would dominate the way he did. They could only speak from perspective of watching a hs schooler jumping to NBA. Their opinions were not wrong at the time.
There is record of me predicting he'd be legendary on sohh...not just me but others as well.

Darius Miles, Ricky Davis, DaJuan Wagner were all crazy raw talents. Those guys not panning out doomed LeBron's first tenure in Cleveland.

Then the Cavs didn't match an offer sheet for Carlos Boozer who went on to be a 21/12/3 on 56% FG guy in his prime in Utah.

Then in 2010 when it was time to trade for Amar'e Stoudemire, the Cavs front office decided they just couldn't part ways with J.J. Hickson.

Flabby Shaq, motherfukker Delonte West, Mo Williams, Larry Hughes, Big Z, Antwan Jamison, and Anderson sideshow bob Varejao the best players Bron had.

:shaq2:
Nobody ever mentions this shyt when they bring up him leaving to Miami. shyt if management keep showing they not trying to win chips, then it's time to move on.

LeBron was a fukking phenom off rip! I remember that was the first time I personally knew draft prospects and used to debate the order in which they'd go.

LeBron's draft position never got debated though....:wow:

lol a prime Carlos Boozer wasn't going to help get Bron a chip. It doesn't matter what numbers he put up in his best year, we've all seen the guy play.

But yeah, he was surrounded by crappy players.

Hes wrong on no one serious knowing Bron was the real deal. Everyone knew Bron was a generational talent. But he's not wrong on high school player perception. Darius Miles ( quoted in first post) and Kwame Brown were the highest high school lottery picks right before Bron. There was definitely a narrative that they were a major risk, messing with basketball fundamentals etc

Amare was picked 9th overall the year before Bron. Kwame and Darius Miles were 2000 and 2001. In the years prior to Bron being drafted there were more straight out of HS success stories than busts, and there's a degree of risk with any player being drafted. The narrative at the time wasn't negative towards HS players, plain and simple. Amare won ROY the year before, Kobe was a 3 time champ, McGrady was a superstar, KG was a superstar, these were top 10 talents all drafted out of HS in the years leading up to Bron.
