It was only 2 years after Bron came in that the NBA made the one year out/must be at least 19 to be eligible for the draft rule, and that was to keep NCAA bball so profitable.

And everyone was crowning Bron as having next. ESPN was broadcasting his HS games and everyone who called the games, and just about everyone else who was asked in general, said he was the real deal.

Hes wrong on no one serious knowing Bron was the real deal. Everyone knew Bron was a generational talent. But he's not wrong on high school player perception. Darius Miles ( quoted in first post) and Kwame Brown were the highest high school lottery picks right before Bron. There was definitely a narrative that they were a major risk, messing with basketball fundamentals etc
