I remember we played P Miller All Stars at the Bob Gibbons back in 05 15u....this nikka Demar Derozan was windmilling, going between the legs, tomahawking on nikkas....we was RISING 10th graders....
"We have better players than him at his position already on our team bro".
"LeBron can just add to what we need you know and just make things a little bit easier".
"He will come in and make an immediate impact you know like a Caron Butler on the Miami Heat".
"I don't think you can bring a high school player in and think your team just gonna turn around like that. If he come, you know what I'm saying he could just hop on our bandwagon."
LeBron would go on to average 21/6/6 on 42/29/75 splits and improve Cleveland's record by 18 wins capturing RoY honors straight from high school.
Rookie LeBron vs. peak T-Mac, X-Mas 2003
You completely missed my point. On both counts.Wrong on almost all accounts.
Players who already came straight outta HS at this time included Moses Malone, KG and Kobe who was already a 3 time champion, Amare came straight out of HS the year before Bron and won ROY, McGrady himself came straight out of HS in 97, Shawn Kemp was another one. It was only 2 years after Bron came in that the NBA made the one year out/must be at least 19 to be eligible for the draft rule, and that was to keep NCAA bball so profitable.
And everyone was crowning Bron as having next. ESPN was broadcasting his HS games and everyone who called the games, and just about everyone else who was asked in general, said he was the real deal.
???In hindsight no one knew LeBron would dominate the way he did. They could only speak from perspective of watching a hs schooler jumping to NBA. Their opinions were not wrong at the time.
Hes wrong on no one serious knowing Bron was the real deal. Everyone knew Bron was a generational talent. But he's not wrong on high school player perception. Darius Miles ( quoted in first post) and Kwame Brown were the highest high school lottery picks right before Bron. There was definitely a narrative that they were a major risk, messing with basketball fundamentals etcWrong on almost all accounts.

Yepthat reacting to the bench shyt didn't start becoming a "thing" until around blake griffins rookie year.
now everybody just jumps off the bench acting a fool during any dunk
Davis was better that first two months, after that, LeBron clearly was betterCame in for Ricky Davis fukkery
The 2nd play in the video, I forgot how fast he was, what the fukk he looked like he was running in fast forward![]()
