Most jobs don't necessitate a full 8 hours of work anyway. I wfh and my job is done after 1 hour on most days. Minus all of his stupid and pointless meetings I doubt the CEO works more than 2 hours per day himself.
I'm not sure exactly what these people do but you are right, just being on call for 8 hours like doctors is what most of us do in the corporate jobs especially now that we are at home.
There are days where I'm in a Teams call for 5 hours but most of my days are maybe 2-3 hours of meetings and spend the rest of it monitoring emails while checking the Coli (like I'm doing now):mjlol:

I actually work more from home than I did in the office. In the office I'd just take it have a spreadsheet or document open and just surf on my phone, listening to music

now I don't have to fake it

These companies can fire you whenever for whatever and doesn't have to give you a warning, but let you quit without giving that 2 week notice :hhh:

Glad I never took part in this rat race cooperate cesspool :wow:
I can see both sides of it. At the same time you dont want somebody walking out with vital information like client or customer info or sabotaging computer systems

Maybe I’m an a$$hole (or someone who used to be in management)

But if 15% of your staff isn’t hitting their KPI, should you not fire them?

what if that 15% is already on a performance plan (discipline) and to be more efficient you just decide as a company to get rid of those people?

what if that 15% in staff deduction only accounts for 3% productivity? You’re supposed to let them hang on at a loss?

I get the whole “it’s Christmas” angle, but IF warranted (if, because I don’t know :whoa:) is a CEO supposed to look out for individuals at the detriment of the company?

I don’t get the outrage. It’s shytty yes, but without more context it’s hard to know how to frame it (besides it being bad timing, but when is good timing to get fired?)

What I did take for granted was being able to just walk over to someone in the same office to ask a question and solving a problem right there but since the world ended you have to schedule a Teams meeting with that person for an hour just to do that now. So I am "at work" longer than I was before because the hours of the day get used up easier than before. I used to just stroll out the office at 2PM on most days because my boss had to go pick up her kids or something and no one schedule meetings pass 3PM. No thats not the case because we all have to meet on Teams instead of in the hallway at work. But the advantage of being at home in my pjs in front of my 3 monitor setup with a Teams meeting on one, Outlook on one and The Coli on the other is still better I think.
