Brown vs Board of Education... something i had to research in college. in my 20's I was thinking it was a good thing
Now I'm asking
if begging the children of your oppressor to teach your (black masses) children and avoiding to teach your own children in your own institutions a good thing? ?
Integration isn't about begging the oppressors to teach us, it's about equal access to education. Separate but equal was not equal. Integration allowed black children to go to the same schools (read from the same books, have access to the same meals, use the same infrastructure) as white children. Before, schoolhouses were dilapidated, educational meal quality was lower due to vendor access and vendor choice discrimination, etc. Giving children better access to education allows them a better opportunity to become educators in the future. Stifling their access to education deters them from education and perpetuates negative outcomes. Integration was more about us getting equal access to a closed club (the club of equal rights...on paper) than anything else. Whether people feel racist is on them, but after Brown vs. BOE they could no longer keep kids out of school based on color.

It's still true no matter how many times it has already been posted.
