Even more than 10 years ago he would go onstage with no actual set and just freestyle the shyt for hours at a time

The problem is (Or not a problem depending on how sensitive it will make you) is that when Dave Freestyles normally now, and the premise ends up being the same shyt over and over.
Realistically, its the same shyt as when DeLaSoul kept complaining about Tommy Boy forever.

Dave is one of the legends obviously, DeLaSoul is in my top 3 groups of all time. But there comes a point where you need to talk about actual comedy. This last special was good, his past 4 have been pretty good... but he's not the powerhouse he used to be.
I technically think yall are too basic to even understand what I'm saying. Dave uses the stage as therapy and its his passion and love obviously.... but he doesnt have fun like he did in the 90s and leading into his show. I wanna see a set where he is absolutely fukking killing, he's almost back to that era but its on him to act that way.
The whole cancel shyt is smoke and mirrors cause Dave is never gonna be canceled, you cant get canceled if you dont do shyt besides book theaters and do standup. There has never been a comedian that has been canceled its almost impossible... that's the point he's riding.

He just doesnt want to do traditional skits and shyt and that's fine... he's doing raw improv with a loose set that has callbacks and shyt. He's a genius and not many people can do that, especially for a decade.
But like I said in the original post... nobody is stopping him from dropping skits, and doing a full set of jokes. That's just not his style anymore. He's a genius for finding comedy in a day to day casual conversation.

The DeLaSoul comparison is perfect, its not that they couldnt release an album...its that they wanted to wait until they owned their past albums to get paid. Obviously that makes sense... but they dropped the fan funded album and proved they could easily release an album whenever they wanted. Tommy Boy wasnt stopping them from dropping content, they just didnt want to drop content. Andre 3000 same shyt really to a wilder extent, slightly different situation mentally. Gotta be real and just say Andre 3000 and Dave are legendary people, once in a lifetime... but they didnt want or care for fame on that level.

My point that flew way the fukk over your heads is, Dave wants to do huge shows, he wants to cut specials, he wants to tour with Joe Rogan. So he's not shying away from a huge stage... he's just comfortable chilling. The narrative IS that he's being held back, fighting for stuff etc. He's not. He could have cut skits, movies etc any time he wanted in the past 10 years. He just wants to do shyt his own way and there's nothing wrong with that. Saying he's "battling cancel culture" "battling ownership" "battling companies" just simply isnt true.... comedians half as known as Dave, shoot and produce their own specials. People would produce him for free, its 2022 almost, nobody is stopping shyt from happening besides yourself.
