The NBA is biased towards franchise that aren't big Market towns cuz all the historically great teams been Big Market Cities (LA, NYC, Boston, CHicago, Golden State,

The NFL doesn't have this issue cuz their legendary teams are in smaller mid sized cities like Green Bay, Colts, Steelers, Chiefs, Broncos.
Were the big markets inherently better or did the NBA push this?

Boston was always up there but the Lakers were in Minnesota first. Knicks are considered legendary but they only got 2 rings.

Bulls didn't do much before or after MJ.

Spurs have been one of the most successful franchises but aren't really thought of as a big dog.

It's a mix of both. Free Agents are always going to flock to Cali, and NYC. And Florida and Texas with no state tax and weather will always attract players.
