The repeated use of --- dashes is my least favorite thing and dead giveaway

"The players thought he could excel in the realm of basketball if he practiced --- little did he know how multifaceted that would be!"
English is my second language, so the funny part was always how in college once I learned what that long dash meant, I was abusing the hell out of it in college papers. shyt was just mad useful for the purpose it has! In portuguese (my first language), parenthesis reign supreme.

Em dash was revolutionary because: Parentheses are generally used for less essential information in english. while em dashes draw more attention to the parenthetical element and can indicate a stronger interruption or aside.

In other words, all the American sitcoms and TV shows started making sense! Them shyts wasn't parentheses, the em dash was specifically for "baddum tss!" moments.

All media changes how we talk

Gaming changed how we talk. “Riz” descends from Charisma which is an attribute in many video games.

Sports and sports announcing has a huge impact on how we talk. Look at how “goat” has spread.

It’s no surprise that chat gpt has too.

If chat gpt wants to give the low vibrationals a synonym for “crazy”/“wild” I would very much appreciate it.

Reading diverse long form text from different eras, sources, cultures is the best way to inoculate yourself against sounding like the algorithm, whether that’s TikTok or ChatGPT or Fox News, chooses your words.
