If LaMarcus Aldridge leaves the Trail Blazers in free agency this summer – and his own teammates see it as a legitimate possibility – San Antonio seems like a logical landing spot.

And maybe that’s underselling the Spurs.

Marc Stein of ESPN:

sources insist — at, yes, this early juncture — that San Antonio sits near or at the top of Aldridge’s list … unless the Cleveland Cavaliers were to lose Kevin Love and then somehow manufacture a way to sign-and-trade for him.

I still lean toward Aldridge staying in Portland, where can make about $109 million over five years as opposed to about $81 million over four years elsewhere. The Trail Blazers are good when healthy, and Aldridge has a strong connection to the franchise.

But it seems increasingly likely Aldridge leaves.

If the Spurs are already at or near the top of his list, just wait until he gets further removed from his time with Portland. He might have loved his last nine years with the Trail Blazers, but that bond won’t feel as tight in July as it does now. Just a couple days ago, he was still giving Portland his all in the playoffs.

Cleveland would be an intriguing destination, and Aldridge could provide some of the floor-spacing Love did next toLeBron James and Kyrie Irving – though Aldridge doesn’t stretch beyond the 3-point arc like Love did. Aldridge also doesn’t pass like Love, and Aldridge is older.

Keeping Love should definitely be the Cavaliers’ preference, though it isn’t just their choice. Love has a player option, and he’s reportedly at least considering leaving Cleveland.

If the Cavaliers lose Love, signing-and-trading for Aldridge would be difficult. A deal would have to appease the Trail Blazers, who wouldn’t rush to help their All-Star forward leave Portland. And if it’s good enough for the Trail Blazers, Cleveland might be giving up too much.

This is why the Cavaliers should go all-in on keeping Love.

Aldridge wants to win but no way in hell this happens.

I'd bet this is someone reaching because Kevin is from Oregon.

That is not the equal to this. In any way shape or form. And if you know us on this site we knew there was a real chance.

Their job is to start hysteria to get web clicks to generate conversation that will in turn become content that they can talk about on TV and radio to get ratings. It's the sports business in 2015.

This is what Stein is basing his rumor on:

"The rumbles are out there, and thus impossible to ignore, that Aldridge is said to feel somewhat underappreciated in Rip City because of the ever-growing focus inside and outside the organization on backcourt darling Damian Lillard."

If he can't handle that how the hell would he handle being behind LeBron and Kyrie and all the crazy extra media attention shyt they have to deal with?

Its just seem logical
Like their been rambling all season about Kevin not being comfortable with the Cavs
If LaMarcus legit wants to play with Lebron
And Kevin fine with a deal sign and trade
It just make sense to explore every option if in fact Kevin not feeling it with Cleveland
I bet Griffen start looking at moves

Love is a better fit for Kyrie and LeBron than LaMarcus.

You right
Im just saying if Kevin in fact really wants to leave look at all options instead of risking losing him for nothing

He's got a 4-6 month recovery time on his injury, he's opting in for this year, wait and see is all you can do with him. The positive is that if he were to leave, the Cavs would have capspace to replace him with the new salary cap about to take over.

You sure about that? LMA is able to get low post position much easier than Love and he's a legit 7''0 with great wing span, he never gets his shyt blocked like Love. LMA has better handles and you could feed him the ball in a lot different areas for him to operate opposed to Love who needs the ball in specific areas because he's slow and has no handles. Also this year he started to add 3 point shooting to his game and he was 35% from behind the arc. Albeit he only took 105 attempts but still it's something he could continue to develop. It's not like LMA camps out in the post, he prefers the mid range area and that's consistently open if you watch cavs games

Love is able to score in the post, Bosh was able to score on the mid post, neither really get the ball in their spots. LeBron clearly prefers stretch 4s as opposed to guys that can play in the paint, LaMarcus can score on the block and you could feed him the ball, but getting the ball there would be a completely different story. So far, we've seen how LeBron likes to use his PFs, LaMarcus would have to become what Bosh was with the Heat, and that ultimately took 2 seasons. Love will be better with the Cavs next year, while Aldridge would go through that period that Bosh & Love have already been through, which is learning how to play your game again.

Aldridge would have to extend his range 5-7 feet beyond what is it right now, like you said he's just now starting to take 3s....PFs with Bron have to be able to launch them shyts up.

Yeah your right, the learning curve playing with Lebron is quite steep. I forgot that Bosh had nice handles and he liked to operate from the high post and he still didn't get the ball where he preferred. The only positive that you could clearly agree with me is that LMA/Mosgov would make a deadly interior defensive presence. Might make the Cavs top 3 defensively and a lineup of Kyrie/JR/Bron/TT/LMA would be incredibly athletic akin to a small ball lineup with great size and strength

LMA doesn't like playing the 5, he's the reason they brought in Lopez and drafted Leonard, he hated playing the 5.

I think you should just stay the course with Love, he's younger than LMA and as long as you have a big defensive center next to him you can cover for him.
