I joke around about Kyrie 'locking up PGs', but the truth is he really isn't - sure there might be a little bit of difference in effort from last season but nothing really noticeable. You know what has changed though? Now there's a 7'0 Andrei Chikatilo-muh'fukka waiting for these PGs in the paint and the fact that there's a day/night difference in how the team guards the PNR this season. Kyrie would be just as effective playing next to Ariza and arguably the best front court defense in the East last season, as he is currently now.
Kyrie was trash defensively last year breh. You underestimate how much better he's got.
That goes for 99.9% of PGs in the league - if there isn't any resistance near the rim and the team doesn't play as a unit on that end, then it will appear as though the PG is inept defensively, when really the truth of the matter is it's really a lack of a defensive anchor and team unity.
Did you see how much success Wall had when he played with similar lineups to Irving?People had expectations for the Cavs to make the playoffs last year. Now thats not to say it was all Kyrie's fault. But dude had his troubles. Kyrie would probably make the playoffs in DC. But what makes the Wizards so good is how Wall sets up shooters and feeds the Bigs.
2010-2011 - 23 wins and 59 losses
2011-2012 - 20 wins and 46 losses
Tristan Thompson and Irving were the only players that started more than 40 games last season, you realize how hard it is to win when the there's no steady starting lineup to build chemistry and the majority of those players that went through the starting rotation were average or garbage? shyt like Earl Clark, Alonzo Gee, CJ Miles, the corpse of Luol Deng who had a # of injury problems, Andrew Bynum, Jarrett Jack etc etc.
I mean seriously outside Tristan Thompson (who has a limited offensive game), who was Irving suppose to feed the ball to? shyt Wall had Gortat, Ariza, Beal and Nene to feed the ball to, who all except for Nene (only played 53) played 70+ games last season. What would Wall do with Tristan Thompson and shytty ass team mates who started then were benched, then started and then benched again, cause they couldn't do shyt?
Kyrie has no problem running the pick and roll. Once Love finds his feet and gets over injury issues (yeah it's taking longer than it should) and Bron stops doing his own thing and actually plays within the offense at least 90% of the time and not when he feels like it, you'll see this team's offense skyrocket. Kyrie is unlikely to hit high assist totals when he shares PG duties wit Bron.
Watching Kyrie run the pick and rollKevin Love never gets the ball and Kyrie would rather force to the hoop. I'm not sure Kyrie's getting more than 6 assists a game.
They had a garbage defense last season. They wouldn't perform better with Wall, because the PG position was the least of their problems.I'd take Wall last year on the Cavs and I think they would have performed better. Wall in a Mike Brown defense![]()
Again its apples oranges. Wall is clearly a better true pg. Kyrie's is an elite scorer playing pg.
Both are very good![]()
There's no such thing as a 'true' PG. But yes you're right they're both very good and they're two of the best young PGs in the league. However I do know for certain that Kyrie would have performed better in the playoffs last season than Wall did. I have no doubt in my mind that the Wizards would have gone to the ECF if Kyrie was the PG instead of him.
