What are people suggesting by blaming the police? 
Someone mentioned how NYC doesn't have this problem.....well duh NYC is a fukking POLICE STATE known for racist police department, draconian gun laws, stop and frisk, and has multiple instances of police shooting innocent black men 30+ times. In NYC a black person can literally be arrested for being in too nice of a neighborhood (Louis gates).
That's what y'all want in Chicago? That's basically saying the only solution is putting some white overseers in our community to control us because we too dumb/wild to solve it ourselves.
The issues are def caused by racism. It's a reason most of these gangs are in a certain defined area. But the solution to racist issue is never going come from the institutions that created the problem in the first place

Probably because it's the 3rd biggest city in the country. Detroit and St. Louis ain't even top 20I still wanna know why Chicago gettin all this attention when it's nowhere near as bad as Detroit or St. Louis out here?

Stockton CA and Memphis, TN etc..
Chicagos numbers are still the lowest they been in years.
Hell just in the early 2000s Chicago was getting almost 700 murders a year.

It depends. Where are the murders occurring? Are they concentrated in neighborhoods or certain parts of the city? Context matters.

Chicago's police are inept compared to other PDs. They are not a police force fit for a world class city like Chicago. LA and NYC got their insane rates down, and unfortunately it was due to no holds barred policing. It's the harsh truth.

Right. It happens in impoverished areas in all the cities mentioned and yes Chi had way more population in impoverished areas then the cities I mentioned...

It's purposeful negligence, Chicago is one of the biggest and most important cities in the world, hence why it gets the spotlight vs all those other cities with higher per capita rates . That police department has a budget the size of a small country. They've even said it themselves it's a relatively small groups causing the havoc. They could lock that city down if they wanted to .Think NYC in the 90s war zone, now look at it.
I personally also don't believe this whole "bbbbut the gang culture is different" "bbbbut all the leaders got locked up" . They simply have no interest in those black lives right now. We have heard time and time again if dozens of whites were dieing there they would send in the national guard.
What's my solution?
-double the amount of foot patrols by police
-higher more minorities as police
-unlimited OT for the police
-have police officer doing community engagement at all the local middle/ high-school
-double the number of after school centers
-build career/ mentorship program to get these young people off the streets
-increase the amount of prison time you get for gun crimes/ implement a three strikes rule (post billboards with this info)
-apply Rico laws for gangs (post billboards with this info)
-start and sustain community watch programs
-triple the budget for all local social service agency
-increase budget for post prison work programs
Etc etc I can go on and but it boils down to increasing consequences while at the same time giving the community a abundance of resource to prevent delinquency
Still blaming the police, huh? First it's fukk the police, now it's "we need them to come protect nikkaz from other nikkaz." Y'all want it both ways. nikkaz don't know what they want. How about nikkaz stop shooting people??
