how is it a problem when gentrifiers take over and win with ease?
:francis:One thing you have to keep in mind, when they "win", it includes property values going up. That over time puts
the original residents out. Its one thing to invest in an area to make it economically pop, its another to take on the responsibility
without the intent of pimping the land for huge returns.

The block I was raised on in Chicago is one giant lawn now. I've been looking into the details of buying lots recently
Shyt that's alot of properties out here. When they had the properties for a $1 I woulda scooped....you had to already own a home in the city tho.

I know a few brehs who flipped that for grants etc due to good relationship with alderman.

Here's some info from the "How it Works" page.

"Buy The Block allows investors make debt or equity investments in opportunities that were historically difficult to access. Thanks to the Regulation Crowdfunding rules promulgated by the SEC under the JOBs Act, Buy the Block can create a community revolving around its web-based investment platform geared towards making investing in real estate easier for more investors.
