Any sane person would be. The question is...how many women are actually doing this? And if many are what tweaks need to be made to the system to benefit the child.
Most women are..maybe not weave and nails but on most cases Child support is extra money for them.
Most women fall in four categories:
1. They make little money. They recieve assistance for almost all facets of life. They pay for nothing. Problem is none fo that matter in child support. If this woman is on section 8, welfare, healthcare, and wic all the child expenses are basically paid. The man still pays for it as if it isn't covered.
2. They woman only qualify for some of assistance. She make 30k a year but she don't pay for food, healtcare or childcare She only pay rent or mortgage. So the child support helps but she still have extramoney at the end as the only bills occurred are her own.
3. The woman Who not on any assistance.
She making 50k and above. Your money is just extra.
4. The married women. She make money and she married. The husband income doesn't matter to child support. Your money is extra to the household.
Other than #2..your money is always extra. What do you think she spending that money on?
Tweaks I would make. Stop allowing child support to be used as ordinary income. It's unfair to be able to use it as income but not be taxed.
Second if assistance is given make the primary fill out a budget for the cost of what it takes to raise the child. If it is approved by the court make the secondary caregiver pay he/she percentage of that budget.
Third. The person paying child support should have the option to pay their portion onto a card so that person can spend the money they pay for child support how they like ir directly to the primary person..Money the primary needs for necessities can go directly to them but money for clothes, education and misc can go onto a card that the secondary person can spend how they lIke. That way the child knows the secondary paid for this.
