I think anybody who officially "retires" from something they claim to do for the art of it, isn't a real artist.

Real artists don't retire.

They take breaks. They might even stop until they find inspiration. Might take years. Sometimes that inspiration never comes. Which is fine. You might even wanna say you retire from selling your art. That's cool.

But to retire from something you love? You're not really an artist, you're just a performer. Which is fine, but know the distinction.
