Propaganda warmongering.
1. A direct hot war between the US and China will never happen for obvious reasons. First being nuclear weapons. Second being the fact that our navies would effectively neutralize each other .
2. China has no oil. War with the US would result in us shutting down outside supply.
3. China has little food supply. They are mass importers and just as with oil, the US would starve them out.
4. China doesn't have the capability to invade Taiwan. It would be the most sophisticated, largest amphibious invasion since D-Day. Given that the Chinese military and navy haven't accomplished anything in decades, why would anyone assume they can pull off something that would even be extremely difficult for the US navy.
China is preparing for a post-US future, where we aren't the dominant superpower. The problem is that covid didn't go the way they likely thought it would go. They assumed that a controlled, nationalized response to covid would result in fewer deaths and less shut downs, followed by a quick recovery. The opposite happened. As of last year, large Chinese cities were still being locked down due to outbreaks. Their vaccine doesn't work either, making this worse. Meanwhile the US has completely recovered from the shut down and the economy is humming at a higher rate than any major country. Not to mention the dollar's continued dominance.
China's best bet on Taiwan is to wait. For assimilation. At some point, whether it takes a decade or two, they believe Taiwan will simply cease existing and its people will open up with welcome arms to the CCP. I don't think that's gonna happen, but I GET it.
