this is a major fact that everyone overlooks

black people wont even allow their kids to stay home past 18, meanwhile soo yung has saved enough to buy a house staying with her family until 30

She will continue to live with her family and buy a house and rent it out

This is true.

It's a damn lie that immigrants come from nothing before crossing over. Majority of them come from very well off families. America doesn't just grant visas to poverty stricken people in other countries, they only take the best of the best from other countries.

Man its kinda annoying when people talk with such certainty about things that they dont know about.

So you've never heard of the visa lottery? Most nigerians i jnow are the children of visa lottery parents.

Yall are so adamant in proving that one side is a myth that you are making up you're own myths to do so. You're swinging too far to the otherside.

There are poor immigrants who come to America. This is a fact. If this fact bothers you, i dont know what to tell you.

To act like every immigrant who makes it here is well off is some cognitive dishonesty and im not sure what the purpose of it is.

Do yall feel better if every immigrant was ballin out in their home country? What exactly does that do.for you?

Kansas City, MO.
For once I would like someone to name these phantom government benefits immigrants have access to.
Grants and Loans

6 Business Financing Options for Immigrants | Fora Financial Blog

2. Government Grants
Two programs, called the Wilson-Fish program and the Microenterprise Development Program, are both administered by the Office of Refugee Resettlement to offer financial assistance to refugees. If you’re a refugee, it’s worth considering these business grants.

However, you don’t have to be a refugee to get money from the government. Non-refugees can find grants at Grants.gov by checking the website regularly for grants that fit their needs. Make sure that if you do apply for a grant that you do a thorough job with your application, as competition for grants is fierce.

Refugee and Entrant Assistance: Discretionary Grants
The Department of Health and Human Services provides these grants, which aim to lower the number of immigrants who require assistance and to encourage placement of immigrants in areas with good job opportunities. The grants focus on promoting literacy in financial matters and stable marriages. HHS's Microenterprise Development Program grants are specifically geared toward helping immigrants with the resources and expertise necessary to start a new business or expand an existing business. Specialized training includes business plan development, management, bookkeeping and marketing. Target groups for these grants are immigrants from Cuba, Haiti and Asian countries. Public and private nonprofit agencies disburse the grants. An immigrant does not need to provide any credentials or documentation to qualify for these grants.

MBDA Opportunity Zone Summits

Opportunity Zones are a tool created by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 to spur investment on underserved areas. They offer investors a tax incentive by investing their unrealized capital gains into a designated “Opportunity Fund.”

Did you know that there are $2.3 trillion of unrealized capital gains in the United States? And did you know that the average Opportunity Zone consists of 56% minority residents? Minority business enterprises (MBEs) are the foundations of their communities, and Opportunity Zones can be a powerful way to bring investment dollars into these MBEs.

According to the 2017 legislation, Opportunity Zone investors can defer, reduce, and even eliminate their tax liability on capital gains. While the Department of Treasury and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) are still finalizing the rules on Opportunity Zones, there is already a significant amount of buzz and excitement surrounding this historic initiative.

To this end, the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) is hosting a series of Opportunity Zone Summits throughout the Nation this year. Last month, we kicked off our tour in Philadelphia with a packed event at the Philadelphia MBDA Business Center. We look forward to hosting many more exciting Opportunity Zone Summits!

These immigrants come from severe circumstances and are willing to save and live like sh!t for decades just so their kids can have a better life.

You shouldn't compare them to any Westerners.
Yes and no.

It's just bad business moves and bad business management. Them Chinese folk are too cheap and untrusting to hire outside people to do their job so they don't have to work 12 hours a day 7 days a week.

Plus with the money they make and so-called save why don't they open up more restaurant chains and/or invest? Betting on your kid to become a doctor, engineer and successful to take care of the family is unfair and not fullproof. Their kids could be like nah fukk it. "I've worked my ass off my whole life for this family, I'm gonna do what I want now. I don't wanna be a doctor, lawyer or engineer".

And how can they come from severe circumstances to owning a restaurant chain? It's possible but I doubt all them Chinese chain owners saved pennies and pennies to build that business.

I don't give a shyt.

I stopped eating Chinese food years ago.

That shyt gonna kill ya. They use the same oil way past it's due date, feed you some shyt they picked up off the street, and hate your black ass.

They open up beauty stores and Chinese food restaurants in the black community but don't reciprocate shyt.

I ain't supporting them b*stards.

Trust me.

My parents and many of my family members came here through visa lottery.. including my cousin. First of all you gotta pay for that shyt if you win. My mom dropped money so my cousin can come over here.

If you don't have support in the country you won the lottery from you ain't surviving.

You need a place to stay at of course. They stay with family, get their papers right so they can start working.

They save while living with their family etc.

To think they don't get ANY help is ridiculous. Where are the funds coming from if that's the case?

How are they saving enough to lease a building and run a business off of minimum wage, poor English skills etc?

I think cultural differences get undermined in these discussions
People always talk about black parents kicking kids out ignoring the fact black american youth are way more independent and don't prioritize their parents opinion as much as Asian or Africans. Asians be 30 yrs old stressing over what their parents want. If a black parent doesn't like their daughter boyfriend the daughter is moving out and living with the bf :yeshrug:
Black kids could live at home too if they were willing to be treated like shyt while giving up their whole paycheck like these 1st Gen kids. It's just a different mindset.
I just came in to say this. Additionally, there is an entire cultural mindset behind that and a lot of American kids already do that.
Staying at home so you can play video games and extend ur adolescence is one thing and ya’ll know there are cats living off their elders sorry as fukk. That’s one dynamic.

The other dynamic is literally being a slave to your immediate and extended family. Where u live with ur mom and dad, in THEIR house, giving them YOUR money or sending money home, living in a multigenerational household with parents and grandparents AND u are their caretakers.

In between those extremes is a balance that can be struck and many Americans aren’t that different from a lot of immigrant families in those regards. I actually know quite a few people who stay with their parents past the age of 18 until they are like 21. Then they transition into careers and move out and send money home. Both American and immigrant.

I also know a bunch of people immigrant and otherwise, sucking the elders dry. This is actually a huge problem in a lot of Asian families, but nobody will admit it in the media b/c they allegedly the model minority. There are a lot of Asian kids living off their parents, keeping them working beyond the age of retirement b/c they trifling.

When it comes to immigrants people either feel the need to demonize them as coddled con artists or romanticize they as noble workers in comparison to allegedly lazy Americans.
These oversimplifications are silly.

Ofcourse they get help, we had an uncle living here. But he was a taxicab dtiver living in a tiny flat, so its not like our "support" was someone well off. My point is that not everyone who came to America was ballin in their home country. There are plenty of people who were straight from the village.

And guess what the rich and the poor Nigerians did when they got to America... they drove the same taxi cabs. :unimpressed:

If i told you my family came to America and was balling, i would be boldface lying for clout. We didnt come here with shyt, and that's facts. And we were actually pretty welloff in Nigeria, but 6kids is no ioke:yeshrug:

The popularity of Asian food besides Americanized Chinese takeout has been increasing, and most of those places seem to be run by Chinese people.
Japanese, Thai, Asian fusion, actual Chinese food, etc.
There is presumably more profit to be made there, since people's price tolerance is higher for those.
