They had my wife on that shyt to start, but then she got pregnant right after (no more birth control) and was switched to Lovonox right after. The injections were a pain to do twice a day, but if it's a safer drug why are people even prescribing Coumadin?
Coumadin's been around longer so clinicians are more comfortable using it, it costs less, and depending on what region you're in it may be easier to reverse in the case of bleeding depending on where you are (not so much an issue in North America). Also, Lovenox = injections rather than oral medication which many tend to prefer.
Breh just basically explained it to you. More about the costs than anything. Most people we see are very unhealthy Americans with little or no health insurance so theyre usually started on Coumadin. It's a pain in the ass though because you have to check your levels on like a weekly basis. If your levels ain't right then you're more susceptible to blood clots or you have a chance bleeding easily. fukked up situation.
I was reading around and I seen a story about one chic who had PE in both lungs and she had to go on blood thinners for life. This shyt is no joke.

If you have more than one episode of blood clots or have blood dyscrasias you're basically fukked and have to be on blood thinners for life.

Yeah, I remember having to go to those appts with her regularly to get her levels checked. Even though the Lovonox shots were a pain, literally and figuratively, for her, they still ended up being so much better than the Coumadin process.

Real fukking talk. You wait all that fukking time only to feel like you're being rushed along the process.
While that might be true with some of em everyone is not like that.

Hospital administration puts a lot of pressure on medical staff to get patients in and out and we have to do our best and use our judgement to make the best diagnoses we can while getting people out in a timely manner.:francis:

After reading the symptoms, I'm pretty sure that this is affecting me in some way too. I'm going to try and get checked out because this seriously scares me. Prayers for the Bosh family.

Yep Coumadin is less than $5 without insurance. It's awful to take though with the side effects, watching your diet & foods with vitamin k, & getting your INR checked.
