They had my wife on that shyt to start, but then she got pregnant right after (no more birth control) and was switched to Lovonox right after. The injections were a pain to do twice a day, but if it's a safer drug why are people even prescribing Coumadin?
Breh just basically explained it to you. More about the costs than anything. Most people we see are very unhealthy Americans with little or no health insurance so theyre usually started on Coumadin. It's a pain in the ass though because you have to check your levels on like a weekly basis. If your levels ain't right then you're more susceptible to blood clots or you have a chance bleeding easily. fukked up situation.Coumadin's been around longer so clinicians are more comfortable using it, it costs less, and depending on what region you're in it may be easier to reverse in the case of bleeding depending on where you are (not so much an issue in North America). Also, Lovenox = injections rather than oral medication which many tend to prefer.
I was reading around and I seen a story about one chic who had PE in both lungs and she had to go on blood thinners for life. This shyt is no joke.
If you have more than one episode of blood clots or have blood dyscrasias you're basically fukked and have to be on blood thinners for life.
