He's a legacy act at this point, no? Nothing wrong with that necessarily, as we see you can still make a ton of money on tour as such,

But he's not playing in the same sandbox as the top "relevant" R&B acts anymore. Considering he's been around for more than 15 years now, that's kind of to be expected.

I wouldn't call him legacy just yet.

he is tho, no r&b male is doing more #'s than him. he gets more streams than the top r&b girl, summer. only relevant semi-r&b acts beating him are crossover acts who are in their artistic prime - SZA, weeknd, and bruno

Go look at my post on the 2nd page from months ago, I said the same thing you’re saying now.

Calling somebody a legacy act isn’t ‘downplaying’ then. part of that just means that some people won’t check for Chris browns 9th album immediately when they can check Don tolliver’s 2nd, SZA’s 2nd, etc doesn’t mean the music isn’t good

I'll be honest with you...I go to parties etc...and no one is playing his new shyt. It's all more indie and Soundcloud type artists....R&B is thriving and Chris ain't in the mix

Radio isn’t based on ignoring people. It’s about placements, based on industry relationships, of songs that are created for the specific purpose of serving to uphold a platform for advertisement


What else do you know that is a platform for advertisements …. Perhaps a, billboard ….

He needs an entirely new production team. All of his shyt sounds the same. Trap hihats. Ambient pads. Mid tempo. The same regurgitated formulas spewed by all of these r&b artist these days. The last time I heard some R&B shyt that sounded different and got my attention was that Doechii chick. Breezy needs to hook up with anybody else to forge some new creative concepts and music. Brandy/Darkchild. Aaliyah/Timbaland/Missy. Hell, anybody else. He needs to experiment with different styles. His music is always the same. No growth at all.

It’s an algorithm based industry now, and enough people don’t wanna see him win now that the rithms won’t do him any favors.

He’ll keep putting out a lot of music and he’ll keep having a song that cuts through and turns into a big song every 2-3 years, it is what it is

I think it’s pretty simple.

When you get on a major and have a big budget behind you, you get not only a great production team but access to the industry’s best writers. When you no longer have said budget & connections, the writers go away as well.

Katy Perry, Whitney Houston, Rihanna, Lorde, Madonna, list goes on for the pop/R&B acts that had not only catchy songs but a solid cohesive album because of the team of writers/production they were gifted.

After Chris turned Rihanna into roadkill all that went away. Idk if they’d be open to it but he should hit up Jimmy Jam & Lewis.

chris is reductive and has really plateaued musically. He's too talented to be so lost, musically.. I wished he'd have an OG to help him focus. I wasn't a fan of that last Drake album, but I salute the hustle and creative in him to continue to experiment/push himself. He should take his time to flesh out his ideas more. HNM had a lot of nice elementes that just didn't solidify into something 'great' IMO. I think Bey's team or even Kendrick's team can help him with that. That Parkwood/TDE camp knows how to execute a concept.

2019 Under the Influence charted this year at like 36...

Could do a stripped down album, all acoustic, or Afrobeats album.
