He's got a formula and it works because he appeals to his core fan base who are loyal and keep reing up for more of the same. Creatively that must feel exhausting though and then there is the whole aspect of being willing to take guidance beyond weed carriers nodding their heads at what you've just recorded.

Part of this is due to the way the industry no longer nurtures talent, the rush to press and keep your name out there plus the whole social media circus which diverts attention from the main thing which is being creative.

Its a tough spot but he's got to make such a good pop/r&b record that the mainstream charts have to sit up and take notice and that means getting writers and producers in if he really wants to win as a creative vision is essential. I do think CB can make it happen but its all about who he chooses to ride with and if he can see the outline they're sketching to make it happen because if the past works are all him then we've seen all kinds of variations on his new theme and its obvious he needs a different angle.

This is dope tho:

Unreleased for some reason, like so many of his best tracks.

That’s a prime example of people not listening to him, no one gave af about that song until one person put it in a tik tok video and made it go viral. Tik Tok singles are not translating into actual fans/sales, been whole articles and discussions about this. People will get a hot song and not be able to capitalize on that for the long term
I keep trying to tell people that streaming/YouTube plays/TikToks/Reels, etc are not true engagement.
It's passive engagement because it requires no action on the part of the listener.
I've heard Cuff It by Beyonce hundreds of times because the chicks I follow on IG put it on their videos.
So even though I've given the song numbers, I don't care about that song at all.

Thats another interesting bit:

There is no such thing as a modern urban artist who has matured blueprint so he'd have to make it. This is the same thing that Abel is wrestling with as this isn't the old days where there were game plans of legends laid down you could trace as the game has changed and this is where so many artists are struggling to fit in and find progress via evolution without losing their fanbase and bricking.

Must be so wack as an artist in that sense to have to keep on dialing it in on a creative treadmill as you play it safe.

This isn’t 2014 anymore. He is not selling the way you think he is and rnb fans are checking for a lot of other artists who are better song makers and vocalists than he is right now
Undet the Influence was just one of his biggest hits ever.

This last project was too long, bit those other two 30+ tracks albums were vrry good

I'll be honest with you...I go to parties etc...and no one is playing his new shyt. It's all more indie and Soundcloud type artists....R&B is thriving and Chris ain't in the mix
Unless you’re going to parties across the nation (or even state) or something this is high key irrelevant information.
