Bruno has been more pop than urban.
I’m not doubting that but that’s irrelevant considering ever since Uptown Funk that dude been ALL OVER urban radio

Matter fact just last year he was part of a song that was prolly bigger than any Chris Brown ever had that was all over urban radio. I might fukk around turn the radio on now and hear Smoking Out the Window

What about someone in the age bracket for both to be a part of their formative years?
Already talked about that, people in their 30’s caught prime usher and breezy, and likely appreciate both, but depending on what end of the 30’s and if they’re more of an r&b head, you gonna have those who talk about “classic/quality” r&b and lean more 90’s/early 00’s while a lot of younger 30 somethings are more forgiving to what r&b has become.

If they keep the energy of the old vz, this ain’t an issue, but this post lox vz where everyone trying to have that rap battle aggression, I don’t think this becomes an appreciation and just turns into a generational war

I don’t think Usher and Chris Brown are good matchups at all. But I do think Usher and Bruno go better together becuz a lot of the people who came up loving Usher are the people who love Bruno Mars now. And I’m saying that from personal experience with women I know
I don’t see it, a lot of y’all forgot about Bruno’s first two albums which were purely pop, a lot of black people didn’t start listening to him until he made uptown funk then dropped 24k, not seeing how Bruno even fits verzuz…like breh supposed to bush his two biggest albums?

You can have that matchup, don’t make sense to me

I'm 29. "Classic/quality" is an album argument that doesn't apply to a Verzuz format.

And I agree with the generational war.

Bruno Mars matched up best against The Weeknd. Which Is funny because all of these nikkaz are MJ's musical/performance sons. Yet nikkaz talking about CB is in MJs tier.

It does, Mario was getting props for his singing but also that his songs were that grown nikka r&b. lox won on performance but people also giving props to the quality of their bars. Nelly lost cuz his shyt just wasn’t the same bar as Luda despite being the higher charting songs…most the underdogs won with performing higher quality songs better

I’ll be honest. I’m not familiar with any of his music before Uptown Funk. But how can you bring up the pop angle when you said JT was a good matchup for Usher and he’s more pop than Bruno Mars?
