When you read what hes saying, he's saying Trump was too incompetent to respond so when the Democrats went all in on impeachment there was no responsible person to respond correctly. So clearly this was the democrats fault. Wtf :mindblown:

Impeachment was before corona
So this is double dumb

If the Dems did'nt pursue this and Trump was allowed to continue (and we now see he's even more batshyt crazy and stupid than we thought) the Dems would have been blamed for allowing him to continue unchecked, and this would have been more fodder for the "both sides" crowd which is much louder than this General Election is letting on.
Dude the Dems didn't hurt shyt and he has continued. What are you talking about?

People who say that shyt don't understand separation of powers in this country though.

Pelosi has literally zero decision-making authority to make shyt happen in the federal government. She's in the legislative branch, not the executive branch. All she can do is pass laws and even those don't get passed unless that ghoul Mitch McConnell agrees and President Trump signs it.

In terms of actually making shyt happen, Trump has 100% authority at the federal level. Not a single Democrat can make a single federal government agency do shyt without Trump's order.

This.

I was reading the Times article with an excerpt from the interview and all remember saying out loud when I got to the that part was “does Chris Rock not understand how the federal government works? :mindblown:

This seems like an example of how the constant “both-siderism” in the political discourse in this country has removed all ability for people to assign blame where it’s due.

I get what he's saying. He's saying Trump is the 5 year old that can't be trusted and that real decision makers should have stepped up. I dont agree 100% , but i agree that Pelosi hasn't acted as the adult in the room either. Sad that we are talking about our government having to have an adult in the room for supervision.
What can someone that doesn't have control of the White House or Senate do?

When you look at the context of where he said this and how it was said, I feel like it was Rock making a joke. If you're familiar with his comedy, this is the type of joke he'd tell and like @Robbie3000 said, he's usually much more insightful and tapped into whats going on.

I'm going to reserve judgement until I hear him either double down or clarify these remarks. But I feel like he is a victim of conservative media trying to create their own viral moment at the expense of a liberal entertainer. Something they loathe the left for having on their side.

What can someone that doesn't have control of the White House or Senate do?
Basically

It's the same as people complaining about them not funding stuff right now

There are TONS of bills that the Dems have sent to the Senate that could be providing real, actionable aide to the states and the cities within them NOW

And yet the GOP holds it up. Why? To make the Dems look as if THEY'RE the issue when really it's the GOP that doesn't want to give as much as the Dems want.

If the Dems cave and give in to the amount that the GOP wants, it would not only satisfy the bloodlust of the pull yourself up by your bootstraps gang, but also make it look like "both sides are the same" if the Dems cave and give less aid!

Then lets say Biden wins...the minute he tries to spend more, which would realistically be what should have been spent in the first place? They will use the dementia, age, socialist, and any other smear they can think of to hamstring him to an American public that is somehow still on the fence about a President who is on tape admitting that the virus is worse than he has been letting on. Then the GOP bands together where they can, abstructs the Dems, the Dems fall back because they don't want to appear to be the bad guys to an American public that again, is full of more "both siders" than you can possibly fathom.

“So I’m like, it’s all the Democrats’ fault. Because you knew that the emperor was 5 years old. And when the emperor’s 5 years old, they only lead in theory. There’s usually an adult who’s like, ‘OK, this is what we’re really going to do.’ And it was totally up to Pelosi and the Democrats. Their thing was, ‘We’re going to get him impeached,’ which was never going to happen. You let the pandemic come in. Yes, we can blame Trump, but he’s really the 5-year-old.”

This is the quote that gets me:snooze:

I hope Chris rock clarifies that.

i thought about this too, but chris had to know his comments would not be taken with comedic or even sarcastic intent. i want to believe he's smart enough to understand the job of the admin vs the job of pelosi.

not to mention, we all heard pres chump's own words where he said he intentionally downplayed the seriousness of covid.

It seems like she has a lot of influence and that the democrat party follows her lead. I don't know how much direct influence she has, but it does seem like she is preoccupied with being the Anti-trump

Trump was acquitted by the senate in early February. Corona sh*t really Picked up steam and hit the fan in the US around March. I hope someone corrects him bc bad faith statements like this become talking points for the gullible and definitely for the idiots on the republican side. Not to mention, statements like this foolishly and wrongfully encourage the idea that people can’t walk and chew gum at the same time.

The virus was already running amok in January, CONGRESS knew or should of known because the news was out there about it. Even on the same day Kobe was killed, USA Today published a front page article of scientists feverishly searching for a vaccine.

Did Coronavirus Vaccine Story Run Same Day as Reports of Kobe's Death?

There's also evidence that they known about this at least a month prior about a threat. There was a whole summit that was announced (again ironically the day Kobe died) that called for preparedness for THIS YEAR.

Coronavirus Preparedness Summit to Be Held in Washington, DC, June 17-19

So, they KNEW. The truth was that in January the focused was all on the whole impeachment process.A process that was a waste of time in general and made the Democrats look bad;. But with that said, MORE BLAME should be towards the media, because the media only decided to pick up on it once it was going wild in Europe. But it was something that was already hitting hard and fast prior to main media coverage. The media coverage was all on the impeachment and then the death of Kobe.
