Neal sold out. Son is a clown and Chappelle never contacted him during his departure of the show. Your boy growing up in comedy/best friend and you dont get called?
Comedy Central actually ruined their relationship for a bit. Regardless their cool now with each other again

What are some black timeless comedy specials in your opinion? When I think of timeless stand-up comedy specials, I have my gold standard: Eddie Murphy's - Raw.

So I ask, for my own edification, what are some stand-ups that be put in that tier, or maybe just a notch below it?
Delirious, Raw, Richard Pryor Live in Concert, You So Crazy, Bring The Pain, Bigger & Blacker, Elephant in the Room, For What It's Worth. Def more but just going off the top

Rock routine imo always comes across to damn force. The joke he made years ago in regards to the Ying Yang twins showcases what im referring to.

Look at it from this perspective since like me you are a battle rap head. Chris sometimes has weak setups leading into his punchlines. Sometimes his force delivery and how he presents it makes him go to a different angle to get that laugh which he didnt land on first try. I dont get that with Chappelle at all.

Let's not forget - Chris Rock was THE man when it came to stand-up in the late 90s to early 00's. He was hosting awards left and right, he wasn't always brilliant, but his jokes and sarcasm were dope. Chappelle made his breakthrough with his show, not stand-up, before that maybe people knew him as the comedian in Nutty Professor and Half-Baked. Chappelle's show is what made him a real comedy star.

If we're talking stand-up, then I'd take Chris Rock over Chappelle. Not that Chappelle is not funny, but Rock was funnier in his prime.

Chappelle's best specials > Rock's best specials

Also the message on social and popular culture in Dave's work have aged better. "WHERE'S JA?!" is still relevant while "black people vs ******s" we've tried to forget.

Plus Dave has the ability to just go left with the comedy. While Chris Rock act is based of black church Pastors in terms of delivery.

Adam Sandler isnt pushed the way Hollywood pushes Kevin as if he a new GOAT.

"witness the rise of a legend" :camby:
Kev the black Seinfeld, safe and do numbers but mediocre. I'll admit Kev's first two specials are good tho, not timeless but they get the job done.

Seinfeld is 100x funnier than Kevin
