I'm really with you on almost everything you said but there were certain scenes that could have just been done better, flat out. The whole infected childbirth was pretty ridiculous and could have been executed better. Also you can't END the movie on a dumbass scene because it really leaves a sour taste in the viewers' mouths.

They could have bridged the movie in a more serious tone than having the mighty morphin zombie rangers flipping around being all comical n sht :martin: I think 7/10 is fair, 7.5 at best.
Hmm I dig your pov.

I really don’t think the childbirth wasn’t that outrageous, we saw something similar in Dawn of the Dead.

With the ending, it would’ve fit perfectly to go with the boy marches on after a long day, cut to inspiring music scene in background with him going on his next adventure but eh i respect the decision. You had some kid who been running away from zombies all movie, dealt with his mother dying, mixing it up with some left field humor isn’t the worst thing in the world. It’s abrupt, bizarre, but terrible and damn near enough to ruin your watching experience? Nah not in the slightest.

2004 Dawn Of The Dead is my favorite horror movie of all time  the childbirth scene was done way better come on now.. And the baby didn't come from someone who had already turned, which is pretty important when it comes to suspending disbelief.

I do think the ending was pretty awful lol but nah it didn't ruin the entire movie for me, which is why I'm willing to give it a 7.5 on a good day

I love DOTD too there’s things to nitpick about that shyt :myman:

They conveniently write in a pregnancy just to have a mutant baby angle? :childplease:

And a paki woman with a black man too :mjpls:

But this is why I love nuanced conversation, we both differ but no bad blood, just good banter.

How can an infected childbirth be executed better? The connection between two mothers was interesting but other than that I feel it was supposed to be chaotic.

Personally I loved the change up between both halves of the film. One journey with his father which was more masculine, built on some lies; cinematography had more wide angle shots and showed the beauty of the land, and one journey with his mother outside the village which was more empathetic and uncovering the truth about her condition, with the cinematography being more close in and compact.

hmm breh idk how about not temporarily throwing the rage virus in the bushes because the character is giving birth?? It's understandable that due to the pain of childbirth she wouldn't be as much of a threat as she otherwise would be, but to lock hands on some kumbaya shyt and let this bytch help deliver the baby is absolutely ridiculous and nobody can tell me otherwise. The scene could have been done better, flat out. We haven't seen ANYONE behave docile that's infected by the rage virus, yet this bytch not only grabs hold of the other mom for comfort, after child birth she's just chilling long enough for them to have heartwarming few minutes where they cut the umbilical cord and reflect on the beauty of life fukk outta here?!?!

Then when rage baby daddy come through he does the movie thing where he stops and stares all cool-like before giving chase. Then, notice how after every time he enters a new train car he does it again. Stops, stares all stupid for a few seconds giving the protagonists time to escape before giving chase again. I'm not even nitpicking breh I've only seen this movie once so I gathered all of this on my first viewing. It's aggravating as hell to longtime 28DL fans because they didn't learn on stupid ass movie tropes in the first one. Think back to the alpha chase on the land bridge. He didn't do that dumbass movie shyt, he was hauling ASS the whole time and it was the GOAT scene from the whole damn movie. That creates real fear, not knowing if he's gonna catch up or not. When they do that stupid stop and stare bullshyt, you just know plot armour is in full effect.

Again, let me be clear. I enjoyed the movie and am very happy I saw it in theaters because it added to the entertainment of it all. But there's nothing wrong with calling out the flaws of the movie. the people rating it 9-10 are just as bad as the people rating it below a 6.

I saw bad reviews before watching but still gave it a try

The 1st half of the movie is really strong. Good pacing, scary, it sucks you into the madness of that world.

The 2nd half however feels weak, the pacing is gone, the plot holes become easy to spot. The movie tries to be serious but then gives you a few absolutely cartoonish bad scenes. Basically it gets worse and worse.

Apocalypse Now has a structure where the first half of the movie is a total madness, probably one of the greatest movie experiences ever, then the 2nd half becomes much slower. But that movie is considered one of the greatest movies of all time obviously lol. This movie is nowhere near as good to afford this slow pacing towards the end. I felt bored and looking at the time when it's gonna end. And that ending....holly shyt it was bad, like really really bad. If I wanna watch a zombie comedy film I'd watch Shaun of the Dead.

As we'll see, there was nothing "comedy" about that ending... :mjcry:

There is no really point in rating a movie like this, it is so based on your individual tastes. Boyle/Garland just said fukk it and did whatever the fukk they wanted to, but the pacing and fractured nature of the second half is an obvious complaint. Also the ending would have been better as a post-credit scene, rather than a "traditional" ending.

Also I wonder how many people actually realise who the blonde dude is at the end...

Kinda wonder....if they didnt kill the rage momma and take the baby , what would the mamma and the daddy do next? Attack the baby? Embrace the baby? If they did embrace the baby, what would happen when they brought the baby near other infected?

I don’t know why this movie is being rated as highly as it is. The first 45 minutes were mid. The Doctor was the only highlight acting wise and then it completely jumps off a cliff the last two minutes. Felt like you were suddenly watching Shaun of the Dead. It’s up there with The Village in the worst endings I’ve ever seen. The baby scene was ridiculous. It’s a 2 and half out of 5 star movie that people are calling artsy to save face.

I mean, he is clearly based on Saville, although in the movie they would only know Saville as the kids entertainer.

What I mean is that the blonde dude is clearly the...

boy who survives in the opening scene

Who is calling it "artsy"? What is even "artsy" about it? Nobody uses "artsy" as a positive adjective.
