Yes, it was. Regardless of what you say, it's stated implicitly that people in the real world can create worlds within a canvas with a piece of their souls and travel in and out of them.

If it had been a vague telling of how the canvas worked, you could argue that they're no different, but because they weren't, it is what it is.

You're literally arguing against the established lore.

The outside version of verso is gone.

People in the canvas were all created in the same way.

The outside version of Verso died, but a fragment of his soul remained in the Canvas. This is hard coded established.

That version of him is different from Canvas Verso, who didn't exist there until Aline painted him, so that's already different from the rest of Lumiere's inhabitants.

This entire debate would be different if we got a little bit of Star Trek TNG's "Remember Me" in the mix.

In that episode, Beverly Crusher entered an unstable "static warp bubble" and created an alternate reality that was a whole universe with an Enterprise that was comprised of everyone on board. Over time, as the warp bubble began collapsing, people in that reality started disappearing until she was the last person left. At the end of the episode, she gets saved by her son and another character, but the part where people argue whether that reality was objectively real or not comes from her leaving it wearing a lab coat that she didn't have on when she first went into it.

If something like that had happened in this game, like Maelle waking up as Alicia and having a 33 Armband with her or something, it would be grounds for a more solid argument of the Canvas inhabitants and their world being truly real.

What i’m saying is.

EVERYTHING within the canvas is a creation born of some painters energy/knowledge/experience/skill/emotions/etc.

I disagree with placing more value on verso’s soul/memory over everything else.

Its all a painters creation at this point.

For example.

Maelle has lived more of a life inside the painting than out. Her existence within the printing was born just like versos. So you all are saying verso’s soul within the painting is worth more than maelle lifetime in there? I can’t agree with that.

After a second playthrough, it kinda seems like Alicia was manipulated by the writers into helping with whatever caused the fire. It's implied that Alicia wasn't really into painting like the rest of the family. Clea said her and verso went on many adventures in the canvas while Alicia was locked in her room with her books. Alicia also has only 1 small picture on the wall in the manor, implying that she didn't take painting as seriously as her family.

I think books have a connection to the writers, and they probably used Alicia's love for books to attack the painters. It definitely feels like there's a bigger plot building in the real world.

Tbh the Writers vs Painters war is one of the reasons I ended up choosing Maelle to stay in the painting. I'd be more ok with sending her back to the real world and deal with her family issues if there wasn't a big threat of her being targeted again by the Writers and/or the Painters losing the war and her dying anyways. Without that conflict, Maelle *should* go back, let time heal/deal with her trauma and eventually make her own painting were she could have her adventures with her own versions of Lumiere, Esqie, Monoco and the whole gang. But with the things presented as Clea put it, let Maelle be selfish and live a god-like life :manny:

I could give two fukks about painted Verso :mjlol: I made him hit Sciel multiple times and he could reunite with Julie if Maelle wants it to, fukk outta here with his "I know better" energy he had towards the end :camby:

painted verso really had maelle fully tilted for revenge against her own family right out the gate :dead: and like a true manipulative c*nt he said nothing. midway through act 2 again now and damn near everything he says has a swerve on it

Motherfukker was all upsted when Painted Alicia asked to be gommaged only for him to go back to cam admit to Maelle he let Gustave die. He didn't even ask for forgiveness :dead: Then like an hour later he's "don't make me live this life" :mjlol:

Like, I understand the logic behind erasing the canvas and let Alicia/Maelle deal with her shyt in the "real world". But people acting like you should do it because painted Verso told you to is fukking hilarious. If you erase the canvas, painted Verso has to be the last of the reasons to go for it.

Still going through this replay - didn't realize how Verso's soul and Clea directly address later points throughout the game even as early as act 1.

Man..... Clea has got to be my favorite 'evil' character in a long time. I know some people love to call her a badass and the only one in the family carrying weight, but goddamn. The devs spend a lot of time trying to lay out what's real and what isn't prior to her introduction in the side stuff between endless tower and the floating mansion - then she lays out what her interpretation of death is inside the painting and out.

She fully grasps what a soul is from its inception to its end and gives two shyts :picard: out of all the people playing god in this game, she's the only one who finds it beneath her

Yeah, Clea is :demonic: as hell. She'd be the perfect antagonist for a 2nd game if they ever go there.

We gonna side with the Writers and shyt :mjlol:
