I do agree while it’s easily my game of the year it’s a disservice to the other devs and publishers to just have this one dev on stage for 90% of the on-screen awards

I def don’t think it should have won indi categories or direction

if anything it just kind of makes the show boring

This is silly.

BG3 swept because it deserved recognition. Elden Ring swept for the same reason. They don’t happen often but when they do, they deserve their flowers.

Clair deserves its flowers.

Have not played BG3 yet but Elden ring is top 3 for me this gen, and i still say the Glazing it got that year was excessive.

Theres an argument to be made that it’s not even From’s best game to date. But none of their prior games had that kinda presence at the show(or in games media).

I’m not saying, E33 doesn’t deserve flowers, i’m just saying when “a thing” becomes “a thing” in the industry things seem to snowball to excessive levels of hype/hate.

No aggressive monetization
Made on a reasonable budget
Turn based combat
Story that wasn't written in 5 minutes

A game like that getting so much attention puts a battery in the back of developers who were thinking of leaving their studio.
