I rank all the GOTY winners high, including this one.

Yall are the ones in here mad that @Fatboi1 called out one you like, (in jest) you and your brother in arms, titan, both on some “well last year…and the year before, that was different”
Ranking them high and them winning is two different things.

The show is clearly a big popularity contest and pay to win event from randoms "in the gaming industry" who probably don't play nor keep up with most the games they vote for... And that only kinda changes when your game is over all undeniably fire.

I mean they're smart, they give out a pretty good reward (value wise) if they are nominated and more if they win from what I understand. This time around it was less and some fans was kinda salty. :mjlol:

See I didn't even know that.

There's no reason not to vote for it over anything else. I played "Genshin Impact" for a while and I would've voted for it in the same category regardless. Gimme free sh*t.

It was my main point of contention with metaphor also, it starts out with such a strong premise and ends up being “killing god with the power of friendship” trope.

And yeah, it’s why a lot of grown men that play big single player games don’t gravitate toward the genre in the west because it’s like playing the maze runner, divergent or hunger games, the game. Grown up’s aren’t really gravitating toward tropes that are built around adolescent storytelling
The big thing is, unlike in Japan, there is a huge appeal to reliving your youth, as adulthood in Japan fukking sucks. That's why JRPGs will rarely make an impact like Expedition 33 did.

I would love to see if we get to see more Western RPGs adopt the linear & character-driven storytelling of JRPGs like Expedition 33 did. Though looking at all the series that tried to copy Witcher 3, BOTW & Elden Ring, I expect the quality won't be there like it was for Expedition 33.

Japanese game design :handshake: Western Writing

Thats why elden ring ultimately blew up, its aesthetically very western ( like Beserk) without much in the way of storytelling
