I like Lethal Injection as a personal classic but as a general public level, its debatable.
I'm speechless.
Eric B & Rakim you only voted one?the only time i voted for 2 so far.
nah. If they were up there we'd be mentioning them in that light. and comparing Illmatic to them, instead of the other way around.
Raw's not enough. You gotta be smooth an artistic.
Cube lacks tact and poetic depth. Someone made a thread about Cube quotables and posters were struggling like they were with Kendrick.
Again, I respect Cube. He was necessary for the evolution of hip hop. But people took what he did and did it better. Namely Nas, Wu, Mobb, etc. Even in Cube's era, I would argue that KRS was a lil better.
I gave my explanation already. DC's songs don't stand out to me. "No Vaseline" is the highlight and I never play that.
Oh oh Im getting my artist mixed upnah breh nowhere near lol

I appreciate the fact that you were willing to put your personal feelings to the side and vote AMW a classic.
When did you first hear DC?
How many times have you listened to it in full?
When you come across knowledgeable heads in real life and discuss these albums, do people vehemently disagree with you?
Technically no album is mentioned in Illmatic's kinda range because it is considered the GOAT, so where do we draw the line?
Only artist in history outside of our Flow Lord and Lyrical Savior Hova Da Gawd to debut with b2b classics, but unlike the GOAT he proceeded 2 fall off faster than a bad spic bytch after her she squeezes out the first of her inevitable eight rude ass Burrito's kids @ the age of seventeen.

Gon be hilarious to see the Drizzy Vanilli haters & "hip hop purists" ignore the fact that Cube's first couple albums were heavily ghostwritten

It's one of my favorite albums of all time. #4 in fact. The range of subjects he touched on that album, coupled with the incredible production, I just couldn't recommend it more highly. I know you like hardcore raw shyt. So I can't believe you wouldn't like this.first heard DC last year or the year before that. I've heard it twice in full. Today included.
For the most part, people agree with me. There are times people think I'm buggin but then again, I'm the most outspoken and critical. A lot of people, including knowledgeable heads, don't question shyt.
I know an OG who put me onto early-to-mid 80s shyt, and he was saying how it's refreshing to talk to a younger cat who's inquisitive (being inquisitive is the key part) because we're the ones that'll really know what's held up over time.
disagree. I prefer SC to Illmatic by a hair. That album is most definitely in Illmatic's range. You can just tell. Sheer number of quality songs.
You can't tell me Cube has 2 classics and Nas just has one, especially when Illmatic is greater than both those albums put together.
and you're waiting for us to provide your receipts?![]()
