says a major magazine's opinion doesnt matter but takes a coli poster who agrees with him's opinion as the gospel.

"bu, bu, but revisionist history. nobody ever called them the goat group when they were out. "
Wanna just say again that I voted them having three classics.
But in response to the post, I wasn't really referring to magazines....just basing it on personal experience and conversations I've had with people about hip hop. And with Outkast it was more like "yeah they make good music" but it was never "this is the best group ever". Trust me, I'm not arguing the quality of their music though. Speaking specifically in regards to this magazine, it looks like it was dated shortly after Stankonia came out, which was after they had started "outgrowing hip hop" for a lack of better words and started getting a much larger audience, evidenced by increased sales and just the overall change in direction of their albums (might also be due to increasing differences between Andre and Big Boi as well). At the same time, they somewhat lost me as a fan during that time although I did enjoy their singles and a few other songs from the album. But I think from my perspective, I'm asking myself "when SPCM dropped, when ATLiens dropped, when Aquemini dropped" was I really feeling like they were the GOAT group? And the answer would have to be "no". Were people around me feeling that way? Don't get me wrong, they have an AMAZING track record, and I think it's the collection of those three albums that make me feel like they get mentioned as one of the GOAT groups although none of the albums individually meet that mark imo.

I'm only 25, so yeah. i just know in LA they was getting major airplay, i used to hear them regularly and kids was singing them regularly at school. they became my favorite rappers with stankonia, but when i got that greatest hits cd the next year i was legit :ohhh: because i couldn't believe they was the same nikkas who made elevators, atliens, rosa parks, etc. i was already a fan of them and didn't know it.

I'm not a fan of their first album or last, but I look at Outkast as hip-hop's equivalent to the Beatles.

Because let's be for real: Who really can logically say they hate Outkast?

you guys are proving my point.

show me a rapper that isnt hated, and i'll show you a rapper that isnt important.

outkast isnt hated because outside of their die-hard fans, nobody really cared about them like that. and i dont mean that in a negative. theyre just one of those acts that either you like them or you dont. nothing to it.

more signs that they were never top-tier.

that's 90s wise though. i was in the know for that early 00s peak breh.

thats not their peak.

their peak was the mid-90s.

the 2000s was crossover. it was their peak in sales. thats about it.

44 bricks...acre shaker
im a kast stan..

southernplayalistic..is a solid album but its not a classic..its on the same level as ugks and ball n gs albums...

it jus got a sean combs stimulus package..n alot of ppl dont see it or knew about it..hell dre was fukkin one of broads from diddys group..

atliens is where the classic starts,..if you pay attention to that album..

2 dopeboyz was the last song with them in the ugk n ball n g lane...

as the album progress..they started goin in their own direction..none of the songs after 2 dope boyz sounded like anything in the south lyrically

aquemini...music store skit...that skit is tellin nikkas...wasnt ready for the change in the last album n the south wasnt use to that type of shyt...they addressed all their critics..

stankonia.. from beginnin 2 end is their classic album with or without sole sunday n speedballin

The birth of 3000 was on aquemini n stankonia...thats when the singin n harmonizin from dre came..

dre let 3000 out on alot of stuff..scooby doo...killer mikes album..slimm calhouns album...neck uv da woods...in due time..

after stankonia they were both workin on their solos...well dre was originally..the love below was suppose to be their purple rain soundtrack done by dre..

the love below...me n the warrior explained the album before..how its pretty much raps first opera album if u listen to it..i broke it down be4

how dre fell in love with a yung hoe..had a one night stand..caught feelings...it was jus dikk to her..he was like fukk that bytch..n fell in love with a woman a lil bit older than him ,,then gave a recap of it at the end..when the love below was basically the story of him n keisha from total..it fell off n he met erykah...

spekaerboxx was somethin big did at the last minute..kuz rumors kept spreadin they was breakin up..so instead of goin solo n keep the rumor goin..they squash it n put both of their solos together..
