Respect the good & understand the bad

Every rap I ever made was about this town
I made 7 whole albums with no James Brown
And even though I love his music, I just can't stand
The way they used it all up and didn't pay the man
And after 2 platinum albums, you call me weak
Cause I don't sell records in the East

I'm not a tounge twisting rapper with a funny style
Don't dress hip hop and dance real wild

Shots fired :sas2:

Shorty B, Pee Wee and Ant Banks on those bass lines though :banderas:

I just listened through the first 4 albums

:gladbron:

Very enjoyable I wasn't expecting that, apart from the dated production on the first one.

But I don't think I can hand out a classic just yet.

Gonna listen to the next 3.

The albums are all very solid but I don't think they merit that status

That's understandable. They're westcoast classics though :sas1:

this dude is a lot more conscious than I thought lol

well at least some of the time

Yeah, the west (the bay specifically) doesn't get much recognition for it, but we've got a lot of socially conscious rappers out here, from Too Short, The Coup, Paris, Bored Stiff, and even all the way down to E-40 (but that's for another thread :sas2:)

Bruh...I STILL know all of those verses by heart. The one on "Givin' Up The Funk", too.

Goldy is one of my favorite rappers that is not one of anyone elses' favorite rappers.

If I remember correctly, he had a falling out with the Dangerous Crew. I could be wrong though.

said no to everything for now just so I can see the damn poll!

willing to change votes when necessary

can someone pitch to me why 'x' album should be classic? and MORE than a regional classic because I can only ascertain the quality from listening and I feel there are one or two on the fringe and I'm undecided about.

got the last 2 albums remaining to hear.

The Coup has two albums in my Top 90 favorite hip-hop albums of all time, and Paris is in my Top 60.
