So is the next bit:

Depends on how you rank those statistics. Some bumfukk redneck town is probably the best in the country with such cherry-picked stats. Is it really the greatest? No, it isn't.

You are incorrect.

To trying to big up Cleveland way more than it is, all I have to say is: People play Call Of Duty. Men like fat women. People like Cleveland. :manny:

Global Power City Index
^^^^^this list has Chicago at 26, dont know how they come up with the answers but:yeshrug:

I'm not talking about those statistics I'm talking about worldwide influence, and respect. Countries send there kings and queesns for treatment at the Cleveland clinic. I explained it in my other post that you seem to have ignored here it is again.

And Solon, Ohio a suburb of Cleveland was named the third best city to live in, in the entire country. So what makes them better citys to live in?

Cleveland is not very known in POP CULTURE. But we are known worldwide for business and manufacturing. Plenty of worldwide business were started here or have there home offices here. Progressive insurance and the nestle corporation were founded in cleveland just to name a few. The company I work for ships airplane parts all over the world and was named on the Forbes top 100 small companies list.

Two united states presidents were born in Cleveland, 6 in Ohio, I think were doin pretty good on that front.

Presidents are people. Tourists come from all over the country and the world to see the rock n roll HOF. Cleveland clinic is known worldwide and consistently tops the best hospitals lists. The Cleveland museums of art and natural history are also some of the best in the country. The Cleveland zoo, Neil Armstrong,Thomas Edison, JOHN HEISMAN. The list goes on and on and on.

^^^^^^ all provable tangible attributes that most cities can not stand up to.

Larry Bird was not better than Pippen when the Bulls started their title run. Bird could barely even move. And even if i did give you Bird, thats one year during 6 title runs that Bird was there. Kobe was better than anyone LeBron ever played with on the Cavs, easily. During the 2nd title run Kobe was clearly option 1B.

The other people i named are legit great players. Anderson Verajeo, Mo Williams, JJ Hickson, Delonte West, Ilgauskus, etc... are not and never would be under any circumstance.

I swear the greatest con Jordan has going is that he won those titles alone. The only person who can attempt to make that claim is Hakeem for the Rockets 1st championship.

They would have been had they won a championship :manny: happens all the time people become great AFTER success, doesn't mean they were or weren't great before just nobody cared untill they found success. Just like Lebron as much as he's proven over these 9 years. People are hesitant to give him props untill he gets a ring.

And for the record I don't think any of those dude are "really" great but perception is everything.

So now we're rejecting stats when it doesn't fall in your favor? :leon:

But fine, I'll tackle that post.

And Solon, Ohio a suburb of Cleveland was named the third best city to live in, in the entire country.

If this were true, it does not fall in with making Cleveland any better Solon is a suburb, not a part of the city of Cleveland. Likewise, Hoffman Estates Illinoisis one of the better places to live in America, on top of its wealth prestige, but it doesn't boost Chicago's capabilities. Why? It's a suburb - not a part of the city.

So what makes them better citys to live in?

What you think makes Cleveland great is amplified tenfold in other cities. In actuality, Cleveland is pathetic. I take it you have not really gone places oor read too many books.

Cleveland is not very known in POP CULTURE.

Even greatness has the tendency to be well known. Detroit, Chicago, hell even Milwaukee thanks to its beer business. Cleveland had Drew Cary and LeBron James to put them on the map, but neither turned out to be good for the city.

But we are known worldwide for business and manufacturing.

Not really true (fame and pop culture would go hand in hand) but otherwise, many cities do it much better.

Plenty of worldwide business were started here or have there home offices here.

Many cities do it much better.

Progressive insurance and the nestle corporation were founded in cleveland just to name a few.

Cleveland has good medical there, but there are plenty of places with stronger medical programs.

The Cleveland museums of art and natural history are also some of the best in the country.

:upsetfavre:

What's sad is even Detroit had a better museum. I've been to both.

The Cleveland zoo

Didn't go there, wouldn't know.

Neil Armstrong

Wasn't born there, but had some ties.

Thomas Edison

Wasn't born there & also a known patent troll.

JOHN HEISMAN. The list goes on and on and on.

The list also gets weaker and weaker.

^^^^^^ all provable tangible attributes that most cities can not stand up to.

Most cities don't; they trample over Cleveland's position.

This is how I know you know nothing about Cleveland. Our suburbs are very much apart of the city. We have great places to raise families, which is why a lot of the athletes move back here after their career is over or just stay here. I'm not saying we're the best place in the world but we're damn sure not the worst

but it wasn't lebron's job to recruit....he asked the front office.....granted they DID try to get him good players, i'll give them that, but it just didn't work out i guess. And yes, Jordan did carry his teams to win, but lets not act like Pippen wasn't right there, and until now lebron hasn't played with anyone who was even HALF the talent Pip was. :manny::manny:

I understand that Cle was upset, as they should be, but they should be upset with HOW lebron handled it instead of the actual choice he made....but you guys HAD to know it was coming....who has a "tv show"/press conf saying they are staying????

That's the thing... They claim their anger has everything to do with HOW he handled it. Yet all you hear from them is the fact that he left & left for greener pastures.... as if he didn't have that right. He had no obligation to them yet the way they talk you'd think he actually robbed them of something.

And on top of that talk as if he didn't do anything in those 7 yrs that he played for them. Meach keeps on talking about "not putting the team on his back"... Then using Jordan as the example of what it means to put a team on his back as if he didn't have another hall of famer playing next to him. Like I said in my previous post if LeBron's yrs at Cleveland isn't putting a team on your back then there must be no such thing.

id add Boston to that list, its a center of education, healthcare and has "Silicon Valley" West on the I-95 corrider.

But this thread is about Cleveland and i know its good to love your city but some of the stuff said trying to make that city look better than it is, is cringeworthy. Cleveland is the bottom of the barrel for places to live in the USA

YOU said stats don't matter, so i gave you further proof.

You didn't give any facts all opinion and conjecture. Saying Cleveland sucks and other cities are better proves nothing. I gave real tangible indisputable reasoning behind why i think cleveland is better. Cleveland is better. You gave your opinion on what you think you saw. Saying something is magnified ten fold proves nothing. Give me facts like I have given you

Best Hospitals 2011-12: the Honor Roll - US News and World Report

^^^^^ Cleveland clinic # 4 in the nation. Number 1 in cardiology
America
^^^^^ rainbow babies and children hospital. One of the best in the country.

James A Garfield was born in Cleveland in a neighborhood called orange. William McKinley was born halfway between cleveland and Akron in niles Ohio. He was raised in and around Cleveland.

Progressive insurance company was founded and still runs it's business out of Mayfield Ohio(their mail says cleveland)

I misspoke about nestle, it is actually stouffers a subsidiary of nestle that was founded in downtown Cleveland. Every time you eat a tv dinner think about the hard working Clevelander that cooked it for you.

HEICO - Commitment to Aerospace, Defense, and Electronic Solutions
^^^^^^ my company, world renown

Top 10 Museums in the US for Families - AOL Travel News
^^^^^ Cleveland art museum, one of the best in the country
cleveland.com Zoo Cam
^^^^the zoo has the largest collection of primates in north America.

Art, natural history show amid the flowers at botanical gardens - USATODAY.com
^^^^^^ Cleveland botanical gardens THE first and still one of the best urban botanical gardens.

Great Lakes Science Center, Cleveland - Things to Do - VirtualTourist
^^^^^ great lakes science center, one of the largest interactive science museums in America.

Neil Armstrong and Thomas Edison where not born in Cleveland, but they spent substantial amounts of their childhood in Cleveland. They were born in small towns outside of Cleveland, but if they ever influenced, or where influenced by a big city, it was Cleveland.

As for pop culture we got Halle berry, Terance Howard, and Steve Harvey. And the browns despite their shyty play recently, remain one of the most recognizable and storied franchises in NFL history.

And as for the suburbs of Cleveland Yes they have a different city name but in all actuality they are still a part of the greater Cleveland area. For example my kids where born in mayfield Ohio a suburb of Cleveland. But their birth certificates and any legal records are held in downtown Cleveland. I live in Euclid Ohio, but my mail says Cleveland. As far as the census and other statistics go the entire greater Cleveland area is counted as Cleveland.

All irrefutable facts. You can't just say "i went there and I didn't like it"

We could argue all day about which city has the best this and that and cherry pick facts as you said, but at the end of the day when you add all of the features up Clevland is a top 15-20 city hands down, and not deserving of all the hate it gets.
