Nah bro Hugo is def a beast. But I just don’t like how nikkas try to act like Pharrell ain’t shyt but a salesman and Chad was the REAL talent behind Neptunes. That’s wack. Other legendary producers would even disagree with that. Pharrell had vision and he was an artist. It’s just unfortunate that Chad wasn’t. Also. Pharrell has a level of SOUL that Chad doesn’t. He’s also heavily influenced my MJ which is why u hear that in damn near all his RnB productions. shyt to me. Neptunes RnB >>>> hip hop production. Same wit Timbo. Peep this. Tell me this isn’t classic Neptunes sounding shyt. And he’s doing it by himself.

To be fair I'm not aware of anyone who can play every instrument and NOT be considered an artist. The question is moreso about who was the better pop songwriter, and I think it's fair to say that was Pharrell. We also don't know if there are other factors at play like blackballing. A dude/chick not getting a lot of work as a producer/writer/player in music doesn't mean he or she isn't talented enough or isn't making the right music. It could be as simple as "if you work with that guy you can't work with Pharrell."

I was actually in the room for the "Midnight Hour" session you just posted, lol. That whole album with her that never dropped, I saw Neptunes work on mad songs for her like "Invisible" and "Friends Are'. That was '05.

That's what I was referring to. P can do a little something on the keys. That's not something I think anybody would deny. But the way Chad has been slept on and overlooked, is foul. That dude is way too talented to be seen as some kinda sidekick. That was an equal contribution duo.

Pusha basically already said he’s on it.

Guess its my opinon then that "being in business with (MrCarter) is more important than a feature" means there isnt one

Thought the waiting for a verse was his way of saying not saying that Lamars involvement is the holdup for releasing the project...

Right now I personally expect Nas Stove John Legend Lamar and Pharell to have vocals on the joint apart from the duo but admit S. wouldve been a great addition to the list and believe theyve played into this rumor to keep people interested

Maybe im overthinking it or maybe not, July 11th is the date

I do feel Chad is overlooked but I feel like it’s his fault. He’s background. Pharrell is a whole artist. nikka writes music. Produces. Sings. Raps. He isn’t even stuck in one genre. And he’s one of the biggest reasons Neptunes became a household name. Him on all them hooks and him writing all that music. In order to know Chad u gotta know the music forreal. And most casual listeners ain’t thinking like that.

Bro. Chad ain’t blackballed u need to cut that out. Son played the background at the height of their fame. And what I mean by him not being an artist I mean he wasn’t doing his OWN music. He wasn’t a recording artist. He didn’t write music. That was Pharrell’s strength and they even said so when breaking down their dynamic. Chad was a producer in every sense. Even with that. A lot of Neptunes shyt Pharrell would make a skeleton beat and Chad would come thru and put that shyt over the top. Chad was VERY instrumental in them crafting their own sound. But calling him an artist every remotely in the same vein as Pharrell is using semantics and being disingenuous. That’s like calling Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis artists.

But…Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis are artists lol. They were in The Time and wrote some songs with Prince and Morris Day. Physical Graffiti was basically their album idea and Prince came in and said “ok this is mine now.”
:dead:

I think you’re trying to say Chad and others who play instruments but (allegedly) don’t write songs are session musicians instead of artists. I don’t believe that to be the case. Certainly not for people who contribute to the creative process and help craft/write songs. If you want to say Pharrell was the more prolific writer I’d agree with you, But they’re both artists capable of doing many of the same things, and have directly written multiple bridges and hooks and breakdowns.

It's just not who he is.

Back when I was around, dude was married and had kids. He would be in the studio working, and would leave and go home. We would be there all night. He would do his work and bounce. But he was the one who knew the equipment best. He was the technical guy and the one who could hear an idea and find an instrument to play it out on. But even back then, he didn't care about the spotlight. His thing was just to make the music and stay in the background.

I think the issue is with Pharrell not crediting him for the work he's done. Being that we know people associate P with being in the front, they also assume he was doing everything by himself. That was supposed to be his man from day one. You gotta make sure he's getting paid and credited properly.

I personally don’t know the ins and downs to the of the credit situation. What I do know is anything he’s been part of his name was on the credits. If he wasn’t. His name wasn’t there. All the background shyt is things I’m not privy to. They were a group. It’s not like Pharrell was the leader and had more say than Chad. If he did. Why would that be? From what I know. Chad would take hiatus and not be around for certain shyt. U can’t fault Pharrell for by ur admission. Working harder and being more dedicated to it. Chad treated it like a job. Pharrell treated it like his life. That person is always gonna go further.

I’m not calling Chad a session musician. I’m calling him a musician and producer. Same way Scott Storch is a musician and producer. He’s not an artist tho. Someone like Timbalajd is an artist. He actually dropped albums, writes, does features etc etc. Just Blaze is a producer. He’s not an artist. Pete Rock is an artist/producer, DJ Quik is an artist/producer, DJ Premier is someone u would consider just a producer. RZA is an artist/producer. Havoc is an artist/producer. The list goes on fam. There’s a distinction. Babyface is an artist/producer. Teddy Riley is an artist/producer. Matter fact Pharrell was and Hugo was mentored by Teddy Riley.

Which one of your family members was a fiend who OD'ed on some of their bad product? Or is your legal last name Graham? Those are the only 2 acceptable options for why you hating so hard :pachaha:

Super intriguing question, “breh”

Who in my Harlem family did this lame-faced cocaine minstrel white hype-beast darling dork with the same cornball braids sell crack to? Gonna make a wild odds-in-my-favor guess: no one.

But the gall of you wasting emojis on an accusation of emotional investment in that doofus’ music when you have his silhouette as your avi and his roachy ad lib as your name… am I seeing you”negged” me? I pray you’re under 25 and white. Otherwise, smack the shyt out of your mother and make her snort a line of Pusha’s imaginary blow.
