We aren't in agreement though. Pharrell does more because he's an artist. Chad is not. Chad is proven. He has solo production credits, but they are album cuts or are from lesser known artists.

It would be as wrong to refer to Big Boi as Outkast as it would Andre 3000. Andre 3000 may not be rapping, but he is still releasing music.
Andre releasing dirt. I wouldn’t call that music but I was just joking with that Big Boi comment. Lol

Dude was always vocal and clear about what he did on their beats. Even Kelis used to speak about who did what on their production. Chad is an actual instrumentalist. So all that lush sh*t we hear on those classic Neptunes beats, and the dope chords on sh*t like "Frontin'", "Excuse Me Miss", "Get Along With You", "U Don’t Have To Call", "Beautiful", etc. That's Chad.

He's too overlooked, but with a GOAT discography. And that's because Pharrell likes being in the front. But Chad was the one that really made that Neptunes sound hit the way it did, musically.

U DO know Pharrell plays the keys and instruments too right? No one is saying Chad wasn’t vital to the group. But yall acting like he gave Pharrell all the sauce is wack. That’s not true. And Pharrell actually has a track record to prove it. I can literally post video of Pharrell playing keys and dope melodies. Sounding like some classic Neptunes shyt. Crafting an entire song by himself.

Lord Willin's their best album

I'm not mad at that. For me HHNF is a better album to play from start to finish but LW is close and has some songs that are better than HHNF.

TTCD has its moments but more for the lyrics. Clipse don't fit as well on sample beats, or maybe just the ones on that album. Some of the Pharrell beats are misses too. 'I'm Good' is probably the worst song they ever made. Most of the album sounded like they were going through the motions. That late 00s era was rough for rap music.

Their debut LP Exclusive Audio Footage is really good from what I remember, need to put that back in rotation.

HHNF is def 2nd. The bars were flawless. LW just had them bangers like Cot Damn, I'm Not You, Comedy Central and Gangsta Lean. I remember paying $30 for that album :mjlol: the most I ever spent on a CD in my life

Malice has had totally fine moments in the past - this fugee la la verse was not one of his better moments. But it's def Push who has been overselling mid to wack lines for over a decade now, and it has reached comical levels. With those same lame braids for 30 years, and that same faux Camp Lo voice, and those same Don Rickles/Rodney Dangerfield coke punchlines. The best thing to ever happen to him was Drake's insecurity allowing him to be baited into a battle. The ultimate cocaine hustler... who couldn't even get royalties from McDonald's for writing one the most recognizable jingles of all time. That Cocaine Minstrel is such a buster.

:hhh::hhh::hhh:

Which one of your family members was a fiend who OD'ed on some of their bad product? Or is your legal last name Graham? Those are the only 2 acceptable options for why you hating so hard :pachaha:

I do.

But Chad plays like EVERY instrument. LOL!! I've seen P play keys and make joints on the spot.

But on their classic beats, Chad was the one knocking out those chords and basslines. Dude was playing live guitar and horns on the first Clipse project and Kelis' debut and second joint. Dude did rock albums solo with Kenna. Playing every instrument, like how Dave Grohl did on the first Foo Fighters album. It's not about minimizing P's talent. It is about giving respect and due to the dude people always overlook. Hugo is a beast.

Having a Kendrick feature is better than not having it but the downside is that the circus comes to town. Reactions to the verse - which according to Rob Markman is NOT a diss - will inflate whatever macho shyt he says into a Drake reference. Do I think Pusha knew the GQ article would have this type of impact? Sure. It's good press for an album that will need it sales wise. But the downside is that more people are talking about a feature than your album. And given that Hov is gonna be on it too and we know he likes addressing shyt once a year (Super Bowl, lawsuit, Drake fukkery, Meg/Roc conspiracies, etc)...I wouldn't be stunned if that becomes another thing that stirs discussion.
