That GQ interview was very illuminating
So the reason that the album didn’t drop last year was because Def Jam didn’t want no parts of the Drake-Kendrick feud and wanted Kendrick’s verse taken off the Chains & Whips song. Clipse refused so Def Jam dropped both the Clipse AND Pusha T off the label and they ended up signing with Roc Nation.

I refuse to accept this hinged on one verse and not “the Clipse” as an entity existing. Pusha literally said they weren’t even signed to Def Jam so how did that work?

Pusha seems like he created a problem here. Cause Def Jam is gonna have to clear this up. Drake only suggested suing late 2024 then followed through in Early 2025. It’s June 2025. So when did all this happen?
I don’t doubt Def Jam wanted to avoid legal issues but this story doesn’t make sense unless he’s just trying to shade Def Jam and used that as a reason.

Push is saying def jam had them on ice. None of this has anything to do with Drake. It might be marketing talk to blame the delay on Drake but people aren’t gonna push back on push for saying this.
The timelines don’t match up.
Keeping the Kendrick verse is the right choice. That verse will do more promo than Def Jam ever could.
