For the record there was DEFINITELY criticism and calls for boycott for both Django and 12 Years A Slave. Spike Lee dissed both the movie and Quentin Tarantino so bad that Samuel L Jackson had to come to Tarantino’s defense.


The difference is that Twitter and social media wasn’t the juggernaut that it is today, so EVERYBODY’s voice is amplified.
