Imagine when MJF signs :mjlol:

I can, it'll probably go something like this:

Vince: Come on in Maxwell, have a seat.
MJF: Vince, it's an honor and a privilege to meet you sir.
Vince: Thank you.
Laurinaitis: Good morning Boss! It was great seeing you in the parking lot, the front lobby, the elevator, the men's....
MJF: That's a mighty fine suit you're wearing too. Where did you get it from?
Laurinaitis: Vince, I love that suit! I'm going to buy a dozen of them this afternoon!
Vince: Maxwell, we're glad to have you on board and Bruce has said wonderful things about you from his time working at another organization. With that said, we need to make some changes.
Laurinaitis: I was thinking the same thing too Vince! Wow, we're two peas in a pod today!
MJF: What kind of changes sir? I understand having to tone things down but...
Vince: There's that, but the name has to change and we have to tweak your gimmick a little.
Laurinaitis: It definitely does. Good call boss!
MJF: Uh, my name is actually Maxwell Friedman sir.
Vince: NOT ANYMORE DAMMIT!
Laurinaitis: Yea, break it down boss!
Vince: We have too many people with the letter M: Madcap Moss, Miz, Mysterio, McIntyre, Montez, and most importantly, VINCENT KENNEDY MCMAHON!
Laurinaitis: Hooray, my favorite M!
MJF: Well sir, you signed me to a very lucrative contract...
(Laurinaitis looks on his phone to find out what the word lucrative means)
MJF: ...so I'm all ears. What do you have in mind?
Vince: We'll get to that later, I'd like to talk gimmick first. Max, have you ever seen the movie "Batman & Robin"? I saw that with Stephanie's kids over the weekend and couldn't get enough of it. Did you see it in theaters?
MJF: I was 15 months old when it was released.
Laurinaitis: What a loser! I waited 17 hours to see that movie on opening day. It's my favorite! Batman is so muscular in this movie, but not as muscular as you Vince.
Vince: There are some parts that are maybe a little risque...
Laurinaitis: I still have to take a cold shower anytime I think about Poison Ivy sir
Vince: But Arnold as Mr. Freeze stood out. His comedic timing was great in this movie and it got me thinking.
Laurinaitis: Here it comes...
Vince: Your new name is going to be Anthony Frost, who's insults are as cold as ice!
MJF: Uh....
Laurinaitis: This might be your most brilliant idea yet boss. I love it!
MJF: I guess I could live with that. Given my proficiency on the mic, I still get to write my own promos, right?
Vince: It's a pleasure to have you aboard Anthony. Bruce, take him to the writer's room to meet the 53 writers who will craft his consistently funny promos.
Bruce: C'mon Anthony, let's go meet these writers. (Texts Conrad in the elevator to remind him about this for a future episode of STW in 2028)

Cody being direction less also falls on Khan since he ultimately makes the call on creative (somehow he doesn't get blamed for allowing all the Cody & Brandi stuff people hated to make TV though) & according to Khan the reaction to Cody was intended.

Other than pulling Max Caster off TV for making a rape joke, he's been pretty lenient about what the talent say/do. Khan gave him a long leash to try getting the Codyverse over and Cody was trying to do so while trying not to be a heel, which the fans weren't buying. Think the fans would have accepted him channeling Homelander and being that kind of Heel, but him straddling the fence ala 95 dark side Hogan wasn't being bought.

I agree 100% that the Brandi stuff should have been vetoed on the spot, and them leaving was a blessing in disguise for Paige VanThot since that would have probably been her first feud with the company (guessing Sammy/Tay are now playing the roles that Cody/Brandi were slated to be in prior to their departure). This is where having someone like Regal or a committee of 2-3 others can come into play so they can filter the bad ideas.

All someone has to do is shoot on him real quick about being a failure and running back to the E and his run is over:mjlol:

Uptown, Downtown, Switzerland
"I'll have the steak"
"sir, we don't have steak on the menu"
"didn't want it anyway, steaks garbage"

that just about sums up this Cody situation.

To flip this back, if you were told you could either have Cody Rhodes (who was directionless for over a year and getting mixed reactions) reupped or use that money to sign Buddy Murphy, Keith Lee, and Swerve Strickland, what would you do?

you'd keep it in the bank.. a whole lot of mid right there.

I think Vince will give Cody a decent push at the start (maybe even a championship run) but, WWE fans will get tired of him once the excitment of getting an AEW guy goes away. Cody's just not that good without the gimmicks.

In AEW, Cody had the power to add all of the bells and whistles to his matches. Cody loved to overbook his matches. Crazy spots, outside interference, tables, tons of blood, celebrity interactions, fire. It's like he knew that he had to do the most for people to like him.

In WWE, Cody won't be able to hide behind the gimmicks. He won't be able to name drop the other company in every promo for a pop. He'll have to rely on his own ability without the extra privileges he got in AEW.
We both think he will flounder without the extras, just differ on how his initial run will go. You're way more optimistic than I :pachaha:
